Otomo Katsumi begins to head out. Giving one last glance towards Mirumoto Aiko offering the woman a smile she leaves. Dear cousin you need to remember your station in life. You are to rule and in ruling it is required that you remember your superiority over those you rule. It is something you will need to learn. A lesson I will be happy to teach you.

Once the other Imperial leaves, Aiko stands up and goes to knock quietly on the back room door. She figures that it would do to apologize to Hinata for the actions of the other teacher and to let her know it was safe to come out. After all, Hinata was the one most harmed by the Otomo's actions. The second most harmed, she'll get to after the first is dealt with. Her husband, on the other hand, seems content to let his wife handle things, sitting at the table and working on his notes for classes. After all, he's...not as good with people as his wife is. He's more suited to fixing pots than smoothing over ruffled feathers.

At the knock, Hinata scrambled to her feet and straightened her skirt, then wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. She hoped they weren't too blood shot, but given how she'd been crying...well, she'd have to hope that whoever was knocking wouldn't mention it. Mustering up as much pep as she could, she opened the door, only to be met with Aiko on the other side. Aiko had come to check on her? Hinata was not sure how to feel about that. On one hand, it was nice of Aiko to do so, on the other hand...did she really deserve it?
Or perhaps she was just checking on the status of her meal. That seemed infinitely more likely, Hinata decided.
"Ah, mistress! I'm sorry, I just..."
Hinata failed to think of a good excuse. On top of that, her voice shook. In her mind, she cursed one ancestor in particular.

"You don't have to act right now, Kuni-san. I'm just here to check on you. Make sure you're alright," Aiko says, her voice gentle, "I couldn't help but overhear how the Otomo was treating you and...I do wish to apologize on the part of the teaching staff. She had no call to treat you the way she did."

Hinata blushed slightly. So Aiko had come to check up on her.
"Ah, thank you, Mirumoto-sensei. I'm...I'm fine. I will be okay. I've dealt with worse."
Kami, she had dealt with worse. The Otomo's treatment had upset her, there was no doubt about that, but it was far from what had sent her running into the break room. ...if Aiko had known that, she suspected this little chat wouldn't have been nearly so cordial.

"Alright. Still. It does not excuse the Otomo's behavior," Aiko replies, "Just take a few moments to center yourself. The other patrons will understand."

Hinata nodded, taking a deep breath.
"Right. ...thank you again, Mirumoto-sensei."
Hinata managed a smile. Not an entirely disingenuous one, either. It was nice to know someone cared about her well-being.
