"I know..." he shrugged. Reiha probably hasn't seen him that uncomfortable before.
"Mind changing subject? It makes me feel weird and from what I've understood you don't seem to enjoy it either."
The servants had a great timing and silence followed as the trays with their order. He waited for them to leave before filling his cup with sake.
"I have one and I know at least three more people, who could have their own. But yes I see what you mean. First world problems..." He conceded.

Reiha nods vigorously.
"No, I don't mind! I don't enjoy talking about it, but at some point we will have to, I suppose. But later!"
She smiles radiantly as her kitsune udon is served.
"Well, I don't mind sharing this: this dish got it's name because according to legend fox yokai find it irresistible." She adds with a grin. "Legend is 100% right. It's my absolute favorite!"

"Good to know then." He said as he sipped from his sake cup.
"Back in my homelands we usually wish to those we eat together something that would ruffly translate in Rokugani like take pleasure." He said as he reached for his sticks.
"It does indeed look delicious."

"I was actually a bit impolite...", Reiha admits conspiratorially. "In Rokugan we say something like 'the food is adequate'. One should be focused on one's duty and practical matters, and not on indulging oneself. Food should be just fuel for the body. Of course, this is not a formal setting, so we have a little more leeway."
She smiles at Tarik as she picks up her own sticks.
"Please take pleasure in your food, Tarik-san."

He smiled
"You too Reiha-sama and I hope it is adequate." He responded.
Kitsune Odon was not his favorite dice, but for Rokugani food it was decent.
"What about you, did you liked school? Is your roommate bearable?"

Reiha nods enthusiastically.
"This is my first time away from home." And her mother. "Miya-sempai is very friendly." And beautiful!
"It think school will be great! And no one seems to mind me being a kitsune! Did anyone give you trouble about being a gaijin? I hope not!"
As her therapist always says: 'keep a positive outlook!'

"I'm glad for you. It's encouraging that you like it." He commented.
"Just the administration. Kids have been cool. I even met some kitsune twins. If you want I could introduce you to them. One of them wants Aziz to join her pack, whatever that means."

There's a little frown.
"Foxes don't have packs, silly. We have 'skulks'. As in 'skulking around'. And usually it's only in certain seasons when food is abundant, and only ever family members from previous litters that stick around to help mom and dad raise the new kits. I think they were having you on, Tarik-san! Some of my kin are not very good with, well, the truth. But I could check them out if you want? See if they're the kind of yokai that give rest of us a bad name?"

"They were very weird. I was having a coffee and they showed up. The one spoke only in sign language. They wanted to teach that to Aziz and me. I was just trying to be polite." He frowned.
"Thank you, I would appreciate it."

"You're welcome!" Eating her kitsune dish seems to put her in a great mood. "Well, they could be perfectly harmless, I suppose, but better be safe than sorry. If that type wants to... you know..." There's the blush. "...run for the hills!"
