"The Unicorn have put themselves into a position of relying on creatures less than themselves for their entire identity," Saito notes. "I imagine helping the seemingly helpless comes as second nature to them now because of it." He looks up from his food rather sternly.
"Of course I teach by many methods," he tells her, "but a distasteful hallmark of prior Scorpion administration at this school was an overabundance of compassion. I find that failure, the experience of it and the fear of it, is a most excellent teacher and motivator. If one does assist the less fortunate, it should only be to help them out of circumstances beyond their control, not of their own making. Give your koku to he who was robbed, not he who gambles."

she chuckles and nods her head. "Well now that I can't dispute Shosuro-San. I will grant you that point." She sips her drink watching him carefully. "A wise way to teach." She nods her head closing her eyes. "Still do you believe their is merit in the Unicorn way of thinking at all?"

"I suppose it's possible, if they've managed to exist for this long," Saito says, shrugging. "Can't put it all down to luck, can you... even considering all the horseshoes?" He smiles wryly, the food on his plate dwindling as their time together passes.
"Any interest in dessert, Otomo-sama?" he asks after a little while, taking stock of how much she's indulged in her lobster, the clear favorite of her two seafood dishes of the evening.

She opens her eyes and looks at him. "Well I suppose what better way to end the evening then something sweet?" She taps her fingers to her lips. "I personally very rarely put anything down to luck. To the point I wonder if luck is in itself a thing that exists?" She looks him in the eyes. "Surely you don't believe in such a silly thing like luck do you? That things can happen purely by coincidence?"

She opens her eyes and looks at him. "Well I suppose what better way to end the evening then something sweet?" "I have no intention of leaving during dessert, so I'm afraid it will end with me instead," Saito counters with a grin, clearly considering himself to be the furthest thing from "sweet". She taps her fingers to her lips. "I personally very rarely put anything down to luck. To the point I wonder if luck is in itself a thing that exists?" She looks him in the eyes. "Surely you don't believe in such a silly thing like luck do you? That things can happen purely by coincidence?" "Things do happen by coincidence, but whether they are exerted upon by a force such as "luck" to do so, who can say?" he says, shrugging. "I find little point in pondering the existence of that over which I can exert no control." He looks at Katsumi rather intently after saying this, as if pondering her existence.

She chuckles and wags her finger. "My my so daring. I rather am entertained by such a notion. I'm sure underneath it all there is something sweet there?" She grins at him before folding her hands together and getting contemplative. "Clearly you are no dragon either. After all is it not the role of the dragon to do nothing but contemplate such a thing?"

She chuckles and wags her finger. "My my so daring. I rather am entertained by such a notion. I'm sure underneath it all there is something sweet there?" Saito peers downward at himself, then back up at Katsumi with a skeptical expression, telling her, "You can go looking underneath for something sweet if you like, Otomo-sama." He shrugs again, but remains grinning. She grins at him before folding her hands together and getting contemplative. "Clearly you are no dragon either. After all is it not the role of the dragon to do nothing but contemplate such a thing?" "I thought the role of the Dragon was to do nothing... period," he replies with a chuckle. Being an establishment of top-tier service, the waitstaff of the Golden Dove sees the two teachers' meal drawing to a close, or perhaps overheard Saito's suggestion, and ventures forth to the table to offer dessert from a selection upon a tray. Saito selects the creme brulee, but there is also chocolate mousse, a raspberry-topped cheesecake, and finally "ile flottante" which is a meringue floating in vanilla custard surrounded by islands made of alternate layers of alcohol-soaked dessert biscuits and jam. He looks to Katsumi for her selection.

She covers her lips with her hand. "Oh my Shosuro-San. I feel we are in an inappropriate place for such a conversation." She chuckles at his dragon comment. "I'm sure the Dragon would disagree with such a statement. Surely they believe they do something of importance... Though I am not one hundred percent sure that anyone including the Dragon can discern it." She looks at the dessert the appears before her. "My this looks delicious. Honestly you are spoiling me Shosuro-San. One would ask." She waves her fork. "Does the Scorpion have a reason for showing a lady who showed up at his table unannounced a good time?"

"If you're having a good time, it has as much to do with you as it does with me," he says, inclining his head to her. "I do confess that I like to teach not only a knowledge of a subject, but also to instill an appreciation for it. I'm sure I'm not spoiling you though, Otomo-sama; I expect that kobune left port long ago." Since Katsumi hadn't selected anything, Saito indicates to the waiter that she'd be having the cheesecake.
"Might as well see if you're lactose intolerant whilst we're at it, eh?" he muses as he does. Before the waiter goes, he adds, "The checks will be separate tonight, please? The oysters will go on hers, but both deserts on mine. Thank you."

Otomo Katsumi stares at him for a moment. "Well then I'm glad to see I've been such good company Shosuro-San. But honestly I crashed your lonely meal. Allow me to pay for everything." She smiles at him. "It's the least I can do for showing me such a good time."
