He shifts his stance and grip accordingly "I know wbat im doing" then he goes back to what he was working on. His stance with the tetsubo was spot on, and well practiced. It just seemed odd.

Kumataro raised a brow at the Mitsu.
"Do you? Because I don't see you lined up for stretches."
He then turned his attention to the students that were, and noted with some amusement that a few of them had already begun.
He clapped once, loudly, hoping that would get their attention.
"Hey, hey, it's good to see some of you are eager, but if you don't work the proper muscles you might as well not be stretching at all!"
He began doing a stretching routine of his own, never taking his eyes off the students.
"Alright, follow my lead. I'll show you the proper stretches to do."

Tetsuko would spring up with the militaristic discipline Kumataro would recognize from members of his own clan.
"Hai, sensei." her posture is relaxed, but still ready to follow her sensei's directions.

Suzaku followed, nervous to break from form at all with something he was so unfamiliar with.

Kumataro proceeded slowly through the stretching routine, making sure the class could keep pace. Once he was finished, he gestured towards the weapons rack.
"Alright, everyone pick up a practice weapon. We'll be going through some basic techniques next."
He realized this was probably annoying the more experienced students here, but his was the only Heavy Weapons class and it wouldn't do to throw the hardest material he had at the more novice students right off the bat.

Suzaku looked among the practice weapons thoughtfully before realizing he really didn't have the experience to be picking among them, so he simply chooses one and returns to his position, resting it on his shoulder in a modified hasso no kamae.

Tetsuko, on the other hand, runs her hands across the various tetsubo. She'll pick one up, give it a few swings to get a feel for it, before putting it back and moving onto the next one. This goes on up until she reaches the end of the rack, then she begins the process anew in the opposite direction. About halfway through this second pass, the Doji sighs, nods to herself, and walks back to the center of the dojo with one of the tetsubo, waiting patiently.

Kumataro walked over to Suzaku and examined his stance, then nodded.
"Not bad, but you're going to want to hold it up straight, parallel to your body. Space out your hands a bit more on the grip, too. Swinging anything that heavy, you're going to want to have space to adjust your grip while swinging, that way you don't lose control of it."

"Osu!" Suzaku replies in eager acknowledgment in his goshi drawl, adjusting accordingly as his calloused hands find purchase in a wider grip.

Tetsuko takes in a deep breath, and sinks into her stance. It is one of Earth, solid, grounded. Her legs, as if rooted to the dojo floor, give her stability. She reaches out one arm, tetsubo in hand, and extends the weapon's point (if you could call it that) outward, her wrist straight and elbow bent slightly.
As her summer studies taught her, she rotates the weapon so that it forms a diagonal line from her shoulder to her hip, and effective blocking posture. Her second hand comes up behind it, a balled fist in a defensive block as well, froming a cross with the tetsubo.
