Tetsuko steps up to the training dummy. Her swing is well enough, but could definitely leave something to be desired in form. The tip was a little wobbly in it's arc. The swing itself was possibly slower than ideal. Even it's reach wasn't as far out as it could have been.
It would leave one to wonder why someone spending their summers on the wall would swing her weapon so sloppily. That is... until Kumataro noticed that she was attempting the maneuver with only one hand. Her second hand hovered close, but did not actually grip, the base of the weapon as form dictated.

Kaizen watched with amusment as he waited for his turn. When made sure there was more then enough distance between the target and everyone else. He took his kata stance. It still looked like he was holding a katana, however it looked natural. It was as if this is how he normally practices with his weapon of choice. He calmed himself and shook of some nerves. Eyeing his target, he readied for the attack. He hit the target with such force that it almost knocked it out of its post. Or so it seemed. "Hmm... That swing was a little high..." He looked at the damage on the target. "Yup.. A little too high." He was aiming for the 'chest' but it hit the 'neck' of the target. He then went back to his spot. With no expression on his face.

Kumataro nodded approvingly to Priya.
"Good work, Ichiro-san! Not perfect, but you'll get there. Try rolling a bit more with your upper body, just using your arms can throw off precision."
He then turned his attention to Tetsuko and walked over to her.
"You don't look like Hida Tetsuo to me! Swinging like that you're just gonna throw your shoulder out and probably hit the guy next to you! Both hands, like this."
He held up the grip of his tetsubo to show her, then looked at Kaizen. Without a word, he walked over to him and crossed his arms, looking menacing. Kumataro felt bad trying to scare the boy, but he had just entirely ignored his teacher's instructions.
"Well, that's an interesting stance. What, uh, what school taught you that, huh? Doesn't look like one I've ever seen."

"My father taught me that." He said proudly. "Yes... The Great Mitsu, Slayer of The greatest evil, Hero of the land.. Yadi yadi yada. You know the rest." He said aarcasticlly. His vocal tone sounded like he was jealous and yet amazed at his father's achivenents. "Over head strikes are good, but it is easy to dodge and open to attack, if you swing horizintaly, your chance to hit is greater. Or you force them to step back out of range." He said as he demonstrated what he was talking about slowly. "I know the basics. Also over head attacks are better with a dai tsuchi. My father said it had something to do with leverage and pounds per square inch or something."

"Oh, then you want Advanced heavy weapons, Mitsu-san." Tetsuko speaks up from just off screen. "Sensei here is teaching us the basic stuff. You don't want to confuse the new learners who haven't formed the musculature and muscle memory in order to pull off such..." she pauses a moment. "Ostentatious maneuvers. Right?" Tetsuko is really just trying to help. Honest. ((OOC: Tetsuko failed her Contrary roll to keep quiet and let the sensei deal with things. Just haaaaad to butt in))

Kumataro tapped his chin, and was prepared to respond when Tetsuko butted in. Of course the Crane was doing that annoying thing they liked to do where they insulted people by pretending not to. He wasn't very good at it himself, but fine, he'd play that game.
"Huh, good advice, Doji-san! Maybe you'd like to teach advanced heavy weapons, yeah? We don't have a teacher for that class yet."
...okay, it was more sarcasm than Sadane, but he was a Hida and a teacher, he could get away with it. He turned his attention back to Kaizen.
"And you seem like you'd be a great first student for her! Makes it easier on the teacher when the student's so good they don't gotta listen!"

Suzaku allows the weight to carry forward and the tetsubo bangs heavily into the mat as he loses control near the end but thankfully he remains upright and doesn't pitch forward.

Kumataro grinned at Kaizen.
"What's the matter? You look confused. Maybe you'd understand better if you LISTENED TO YOUR TEACHER!"
The friendly expression was gone as quickly as it had came, and he slammed the practice tetsubo on the ground tip first.
"If you think you're too good for this class, that's your decision! But I will NOT tolerate students blatantly ignoring my instructions! But you came to this school to learn. If you feel like you aren't, quit wasting your time, because that's also a waste of mine!"
He turned to address the rest of the class.
"The same goes for all of you!"

"Yes Sensei!" Suzaku shouts before banging the tetsubo less into the mat this time trying to stop it with his core instead of his arms this time and proving more effective.
