Once the last of the quizzes were turned in, Kojima shuffled them together and placed them on his desk to grade after class. The Imperial once more turned to his class and gave the students a look of appraisal. "Before we conclude class today, I have one final test of you all. While you have all come to me today to learn warcraft and strategy, tactics and the art of battle, you will find that these studies go hand in hand with leadership. In order to lead samurai into battle, to develop the plans that will throw your brothers and sisters in arms in harm's way, I feel it is paramount to know whom you serve because as officers we do not merely serve the will of our lords, but those beneath us," Kojima spoke eloquently, nodding slowly as his sharp, dark eyes penetrated every student's gaze. "This class is not about you and what you can learn in Military Science, but what you will take away in order to win decisively, saving the lives of those who are sworn to fight under your banners."He nodded slowly and allowed his words to sit in.
"We do not fight alone and we must always remember that glory is not our own to claim. Akodo One-Eye wrote in Leadership, 'A great general accepts none of the credit, and all of the blame.' When those in your unit fall in the line of duty, that is a burden all of you will have to career through your careers. By understanding and knowing your subordinates and peers, it facilitates a better understanding and mindfulness of war. At the beginning of class today I had each of you introduce yourselves and tell us why you are taking this class. The question is: was anyone listening? You are all brothers and sisters in arms in my eyes; you are one unit, learning together. You will succeed together or fail together.
"Now tell me, Utaku Joo-Eun-san, who is Suzume-san and why is he in this class?"He looked between each student pointedly. "This will be graded."OOC: Intelligence TN 10 to recall a student's full name and reason for attending the class. The Precise Memory advantage applies. Some of the students didn't post in the introduction - that's okay! PM them for their reasoning, for those who were not late to class. Hida Takeshi was pointedly late for class, thus he is excluded and fails. Pairings: Utaku Joo-Eun recalling Suzume Suzaku's reasoning. Suzume Suzaku for Mirumoto Ryuha. Mirumoto Ryuha for Utaku Ryouko. Utaku Ryouko for Kaiu Yoshi. Kaiu Yoshi for Akodo Ichiro. Akodo Ichiro for Mitsu Kaizen. Mitsu Kaizen for Akodo Izumi. Akodo Izumi for Shiba Bai. Shiba Bai for Utaku Joo-Eun. I hope that makes sense. |

Ryouko's eyes flickered to the crab the teacher had pointed out to her. She'd been half asleep at the start of the class, but luckily she'd always have a good memory. Ooc. I don't get it. The pairings OOC: At the beginning of class, every student introduced themselves and why they were taking Military Science. Kojima is asking each student to recall who their fellow students are and why they are attending. Mirumoto Ryuha, class is not over. See my previous thread. Utaku Ryouko, your roll isn't there. |

Izumi was still thinking about the test and her failure but looked up as the teacher started speaking. Fear gripped her for a second as she floundered trying to remember the information. At first she thought they hadn't given one before remembering they had been one of the last to speak. But what had he said? She remembered something about weaknesses because it had been an unusual introduction. Still she wasn't sure if it was polite to mention that especially if it was the only thing she could remember. "Shiba Bei wished to improve his military tactics to better serve his clan" She said hopefully, praying it was right. Even if she wasn't quite there it had a good chance of being right and she wanted some credit after her earlier failure. Int memory test: 2d10o10k2 10 |

"Hai, sensei. Utaku Ryouko-san is... hmmm..." Ryuha concentrates as hard as she can, but just doesn't remember among the many students who came to class. "Here to please her mother who was a skilled tactician?" She sounds completely unsure of the answer. (OOC: 6 total) |
