Well, the question had been asked. Ryoko immediately stands up, despite Sakura's accurate response, but at least waits until after the Dragon student is finished regaling the class with the seven tenets. Poor Katsumi would have already had experiences with the little Asako girl in her Kyujutsu class, so it probably comes as no surprise when she responds:
"What isn't Bushido, sensei?"
Did she just ask what isn't bushido... or is she offering some sort of Togashi-like cryptic answer?
Remembering the latter instruction, the dutiful Phoenix girl responds:
"Asako Ryoko, first year student, sensei. And I believe strongest in the tenet of compassion -- protecting others and aiding those in need."

That one again. I'm beginning to suspect the Asako name is something of a lie. The Otomo chuckles and shakes her head. "My my getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren't we? Though I can sense an honest answer from you Asako-San. Compassion is indeed a virtue I can see quite strongly in you."

Ryouko stood afterward, nodding to the sensei. "Utaku Ryouko." She said, mostly for the sake of the other students, as she had introduced herself to the teacher during the first class. "I believe honor would be the tenet that describes me best."
She sat back down without an other word.

"This one is Shiba Bai." He says after rising from his seat. "And I believe Sincerity represents me best." He then returns to his seat, continuing to take notes.

Utaku Hitomi raises up from her seat. "I am Utaku Hitomi and I feel Honesty represents me best..." She swiftly sits back down quickly taking a deep breathe hoping that notice won't fall on her.

Well that is an interesting enough question. The Unicorn ponders it a moment before standing next. He bows to the teacher before answering. "Shinjo Takezou, first year. Currently I would say Duty best represents me." Takezou then takes his seat.

Akodo Seijuro stood when it was his turn to answer. He looked around for a moment, lost in his thoughts for what felt like a lifetime. It had been drilled into his head constantly. Let no virtue stand before the rest; they cannot conflict with each other. They are all of equal value. To admit otherwise was to be human, but he was expected to be so much better than that by every last one of his Ancestors. Was he, truly?
Compassion? Could he truly say that when he had wounded the one's he loved most? Courage? No, running away from his troubles was only proof of his constant hesitation. Courtesy? His mother's tears said otherwise. His lack of it was reflected in them. Duty? Turn your back on your family and tell someone you are a man of Duty and I'll name you liar. Honesty? His entire life was one grand ruse, bigger than any he had known. Sincerity? What good is a promise you are uncertain you can even keep? Honor? Perhaps he judged himself too harshly, but reality could be hard to swallow.
"...Akodo Seijuro, Otomo-sensei. Third year. I would say Honor, for I have never been able to hide from myself." He bows respectfully, and takes his seat once more, the weight of his failure pulling him back down to the desk.

"I'm Tamori Yoshi," the young male Dragon of the class introduces himself, bowing to his Otomo sensei. "I think I'm best represented by... Honesty."
Ironically, or perhaps not, his answer was entirely honest.

I knew this would be a fun class to teach. Get to learn more about my students. She muses to herself while lazily playing with the rose on the front of her outfit. Only two more remain if I'm not mistaken. When they answer I can move onto the more entertaining part of the game.

Sakura is silent for a bit longer than most of the students, contemplating the answer she should give.
Honor? No. While she strove to live an honorable life, Honor was not the virtue that suited her best. Because if it was, she would be like a Lion, proud and preening, forever flagellating herself for the least mistake. She did hold her self to the same high standards as her mother, but not Lion high.
Duty? No. She knew Duty, and she would do hers gladly, but her duties did not define her like they did the Crab or the Scorpion.
Honesty? No. She was honest and forthright, for sure and certain, but even then, she had moments where she knew deep down she hid things from herself and others.
Sincerity? Maybe. That was the Virtue most associated with her Clan, that each member would live a life that was true to them and who they were. Perhaps that would work. More thought would be required.
Compassion? Again, another maybe. Having spent part of her training among the Togashi as well as the Mirumoto, Sakura had a different perspective on the need to care for and look after those less fortunate, whether it be orphans created by circumstance or feeding the hungry during a hard winter, all of it was necessary because even the least among the people in the Celestial Order were people vital to the function of the universe as a whole and to treat them poorly, simply because you had more power, a greater position was a sin in her mind.
Courtesy? No. She was as polite and respectful as required, but she didn't have the natural inclination to politely ignore things that should not be, like the Crane might, in order to keep things running smooth. Sure, she was ignoring the blood feud that should have her dueling her roommate, but in her defense, there was no point in it. Tsuki had not wronged her, so why should she continue a cycle of bloodshed and retaliation?
Courage?
Wait. Yes. Courage.
"This one is Mirumoto Sakura, first year. And...this one would have to say Courage best represents her."
