"Well... Meido... most of the time... to be judged by Emma-O." Koko remembered her theology.

"Yes, Meido. So, we all begin on Ningen-do, the Mortal Realm. When we die our souls go to Meido, the Realm of Waiting. It is here that Emma-O AND the Lords of Death pass judgment on the living. The souls are judged for the lives they lived as part of the Kharmic Wheel. This leaves several places for a soul to proceed.
"First and foremost, a soul can be returned to Ningen-do, reborn into a mortal body to see their kharmic destiny fulfilled.
"Additionally, particularly poor souls with bad kharma go to Gaki-do, the Realm of Hunger. This realm is reserved for particularly selfish and dishonorable souls.
"There is also Toshigoku, the Realm of Endless Slaughter. The souls of samurai who died in battle, or were consumed with violence in their mortal deaths are believed to be sent here.
"Next there is Chikushudo. The souls of samurai are sometimes reincarnated as animals in Chikushudo and will do so several times over before they can return to Ningen-do.
"One peculiar realm is Maigo no Musha, the Realm of Thwarted Destiny. Samurai who died without meeting their true fate are sent to this realm.
"Lastly is Yomi, the Realm of Honored Ancestors. It is here that a soul judged worthy is sent to join the souls of all good samurai who came before them."
Kojima nodded and looked around the class.
"Now tell me, were you to die today, where do YOU think your soul would be reincarnated to?"

The door to the class popped open, more loudly than anyone could actually desire, the culprit a Moto whom seems to have overestimated the force needed. Why did it have to do that to her? Seriously door?! How come you have to make noise now? All she wanted to do was get into class, apologize for her tardiness without to much incident, and then start studying. This was the worst!
She quickly paused and then very sheepishly offered a tiny bow at the sensei with an even tinier apology. "Sorry..." if she was allowed, the green haired teenager would quickly, but respectfully, dash over to an open seat.

"Thank you for joining us today, Moto-san," Kojima scolded Ayumu. "Would you like to introduce yourself to the class and tell us why you are taking tgis class?"

Oh come on, really?! She knew she was late and it looked bad, but the sensei scolding her flat out? This really was the worst. It was not how she planned her day at all. Okay, so just do the introduction and then your reason.
"Umm, I am Moto Ayumu. A pleasure to meet you," She bowed, and this time like she was supposed to! "I wanted to take the class to better understand the realms beyond ours. If that's okay." Ayumu nearly bowed again but she stopped herself and just waited. No more questions or demands, please!

"Sensei... that is a difficult question... because I would like to honor my heritage and it is split between Sakkaku and Chikuchudo." She sighed. "Even though Yomi sounds interesting."

Yoko gave it a thought. "I really don't know either..." Do they reicarnate? Probably as she hoped Ari' s soul was in Yomi or back to Sakkaku.

He nodded to Ayumu and bid her to sit. He seemed to have asked all of his other students the same question, so it seemed natural that he asked his late arrival the same.
"Our souls are part of the Kharmic Wheel and most, if not all spirit realms, are a part of this process. While I will not dovetail into a theological discussion, I think it's a question we should all ask ourselves:
"Where will me soul go when I die?"
He nodded and looked across the faces of his students.
"Life is finite and the sum of our lives dictates where we stand in fulfilling our kharmic destinies. For the sake of our souls, we should look long and hard into the mirror. But that is for another class...
"So, our souls are judged in Meido, the Realm of Waiting. Does anyone know anything more about this realm than what we have discussed?"

The question had been interesting to Kobushi. Did such creatures reincarnate? If they did, could a human reincarnate into one of them? It was a curious question, and one he had no answer to. He figured that something of that sort would be covered in the class eventually.

"By any rate... Let's play a game, shall we...?"
The teacher moved around to the front of his desk where he sat down, folding his hands into his lap.
"We have discussed the spirit realms briefly. So, let's test your knowledge on what you already know by answering a series of questions. Alright? Whoever wins will get to choose the focus on next week's class."
