Duo? The offer appeared to stun him for a moment into silence. He's not surprised Miya would offer to train him personally; he's been a wreck at everything as far as anyone at the school has been concerned. Still...he did just admit to a lack of training in that particular skill--she could just be offering in response to that and no so much because he's on the pathetic side. He really needs to work on distancing himself from the pity party that raged inside of him. It could be very well what's been dragging him down.
"I will try my hardest not to disappoint you then," he admit with a curt nod. "I will look for your table first on club day."

"OKay guys! Line up again!"
She skates a little, up and down, like a general talking to her troops
"I see a lot of first timers today, a lot of people interestind in playing a game for fun, or fitness.
That is what derby is all about! Sure, smashing into opposing blockers, and feeling the rush of victory too, but mainly about community, coming together and being a team in sisterhood and brotherhood.
I am impressed with what I saw today. Some of you weren't the best, but you didn't give up. I would rather have a bad person that was gonna stick it out, than ten titans that fell at the first hurdle.
I am proud of you all. I hope to see you at club day, but if not I understand. Go out, have fun, skate well! I gotta get to sword class!"
She gives a little cheer of triumph before skating to the sidelines

Hoshiko managed to stand, skating over to the line still sipping her drink. She looked proud

Asurito offers a bow to the Badger and the rest of the class. Then she continues her conversation with the Daidoji. "I am sure that we are going to have the time of our lives!" She offers with a broad smile. "Now that we are sure to have enough members, we just need the future captain's approval and we can dream big!"

"Are you not going to captain the Cycling team?" she asks, pulling off her skates and pads

That would make sense if captainship was not a popularity contest. Asurito barely avoids a frown, but at the last moment she manages a faint smile. "I intend to try to capture everyone's hearts, but we'll just have to wait and see if I will be able to do it. You will be leading our efforts in roller derby, Ichiro san, right?"

Yeah...having a great time sounds like an excellent proposition in itself. Not everything is a competition of who can do what the best. He knows he picked up that cancerous mentality from his father, but as long as he can keep it in check every once in a while he can learn to enjoy the failures every bit as much as the successes. In the right company, anything could quantify as a good time.
"You have my support," Satoru offered, then looking askance when he realizes that might not mean anything. "You seem to be very enthusiastic about it and you have offered to assist me. That sounds like the attitude of an aspiring captain to me."

"I will most definitely have you, Ichiro san. Both as my captain and as a studying companion." Perhaps this year will be different and offer her both the cycling club and some friends with whom she can hang around.
Then the Daidoji speaks and Asurito's heart almost skips a beat. Oh the joy! This boy seems to really think that she has, at least, one good attribute. A suitable aspiring captain! The herald blushes a tiny bit. "Thank you, Daidoji san. I will do my best not to disappoint you." At this point she cannot avoid thinking that she will probably disappoint him sooner rather than later and her blush deepens.

Oh...oh no, she's blushing. I've embarrassed her. He didn't mean to. He wasn't trying to make her feel uncomfortable at all. His eyes quickly averted. Satoru fidgeted with his hair, which kept creeping over his eyes. Just like him, awkward. It can't grow out fast enough. "I doubt you will," he mutters. "I ah...I probably should keep...practicing..." He was already starting to roll backwards on his skates. Miya would likely appreciate being left to speak with her friends. "I'll see you on club day," he adds, voice raised a tad higher. Wheelies to escape the feelies: 2d10k2 4See, he wasn't intentionally going backwards, and as the speed began to increase and he tried to stop it, before he knew it he had fallen backwards. The bewildered Daidoji sits up on the floor, knowing full well that he would feel this tomorrow. He stays...in no hurry to get up. The pain is well deserved.
