"Agreed. I would say we are doing an alright job for being two days into the school year."
She looked around the table and smiled slightly.

"Either that or keeping busy, really. Which reminds me, I start my weekend job at the shopping district tomorrow. Really gonna be keeping busy for me." Koshiro sighs and drinks a bit of his cup noodle's soup. Its warmth helps him feel a little better.

"You have to work maintenance here and have a weekend job?" Yoshi asks with a frown, frustrated that the school apparently wasn't paying at least part of its staff a living wage. Not that there was anything he could do about it, and he realizes that Koshiro probably didn't need reminding of his situation.
"Well... what exactly do you do in the Shopping District?" he asks, trying to maneuver the subject away from his school job and wages.

"That sounds...ridiculous. They could at least give you a decent stipend for doing all the maintenance work," Kobushi points out, sounding very displeased. "Tell me you at least have a proper room."

Koshiro shrugs. "I need the extra spending money. I've worked with my mom's construction crew, I'm no stranger to working hard for long hours. I'll be doing a weekend shift at a cafe in the shopping district as a waiter. Dunno about any stipend from the school though, I reckoned their accepting me here and letting me study & attend classes is sorta payment enough. Though it would honestly be great if they actually give me money for my work here too. Room is decent enough, I stay in the maintenance room over in the Boys' Dorm."

Exploitative? That would be hypocritical, wouldn't it Hinata she thought, with a twinge of guilt. But what else could she say?
Thankfully, she did not have to say anything, as Koshiro began speaking again.

"Daidoji-san is right about the stipend too. Your scholarship should pay for everything, any extra work should give you a stipend for living... nice things and stuff."

Koshiro leans back a little, clearly unused to all this attention on him. Especially from pretty girls like this one. Now that he thinks about it, both girls at this table are beauties. His nasty look makes it seem like he's been pushed to a corner and about to lash out. Which he isn't. "Like I said, room's decent enough. I've seen worse rooms, this is definitely not a bad room. Big enough for my needs. Let's leave it at that, eh?" He takes another sip of warm cup noodle soup. Best not to make waves. If the school admin thinks he's complaining, they might kick him out. Can't afford to let things like that happen. Gossip can get people killed. Or worse.
