Uetani makes use of the quiet of the temples to pour herself tea. She has a small bento to eat from, but is prepared to go through the ceremony, lacking only a partner to share it with.

Ichiro decided he would eat lunch at the campus temple since he had been neglecting his spiritual side lately with getting acquainted with new people and spending all the time in the gym. Ichiro approached with his lunch bento, his leather jacket was all that protected him from the rain, the gold shirt under the jacket was soaked and clung to his body tightly in that annoying way only wet fabric can. He attempted to separate the damndable garment from his body but it was little use, no matter how hard he tried it simply suctioned back to him. His jeans and shoes were likewise soaked.
As he approached he noticed a girl sitting alone with her own lunch and some tea. Ichiro didn't recognize her but she was pretty cute in that goth way that seems to be popular at the school, plus he figured eating is always better with company. He approached to a respectful distance and bowed "Hello this one is Akodo Ichiro, would you like company for your meal?"

"Kakita Uetani" she bows and introduces herself "Please, do join me. I intend to do a ceremony if you care for it?"

Ichiro smiled at the Kakita "certainly Kakita-san, I'd be honored to join you." Ichiro wasnt a firm believer in the Kami, he'd always seen them as flighty and unreliable but the girl was cute and his father would disown him if he found out Ichiro never visited the temple.

Uetani shows him each implement in turn, once more, before she carefully washes and cleanses them. Then, she carefully pours the steaming water into the pot, and gently sprinkles the powder, measured exactly. She whisks with careful and measured movements, and the fragrant aroma of the so-called thick green tea spreads, almost like incense, along with the water vapours. Laying aside her whisk, then, she raises the bowl, and the ladle, and fills the bowl. Setting aside the ladle, she raises the bowl in both hands, then wipes it carefully with the prepared cloth. The cloth is pushed towards Ichiro, then Uetani raises the bowl for the Lion to admire, and bows deep, handing it over so he may take the first sip.

Ichiro watched with interest at the ritual. One does not have to be a worshipper of the Kami to appreciate someone with such fine control and attention to detail. Ichiro bowed deeply before taking the bowl and sipping "wow" was all he said, it was done artfully and Ichiro could taste it in the tea it was thick and flavorful the aroma filling his nose as the liquid rushed into his mouth. He bowed again before presenting the bowl back to Uetani. "Thank you very much Kakita-san. It was delicious."

Of course one does not normally talk during the ceremony, but worse would be to chide ones guest. Once Ichiro has had his tea, and cleaned the rim, Uetani accepts the bowl back, then sips, and cleans. This process is repeated a few times, with the bowl passed between them, until most of the tea is gone. Then, Uetani sets down the bowl, and cleans it out, before firing up the coal again. "And so," She explains "Ends the formal portion of the tea ceremony. You may now relax, and converse, casually, as you see fit. And I will make you some thin tea." At the end of her sentence Ichiro realizes his screw up and looks embarrassed "Sorry about talking during the ceremony, I'm not so used to doing these things. Thank you for including me though. Next time I'll do better." He looks more embarrassed as he realizes that he just presumed he would be invited to another ceremony "I-I mean if I'm invited to another one that is, I didn't mean to invite myself." He gives a small quick bow "sorry" God I'm such a mess. He thought to himself.

"Of course Akodo-san" she pours the thin tea and smiles "We learn by doing after all"
she opens her bento next and begins to look over the rice balls and shashimi
"Do you have something to eat, my friend? I can share if you do not"

Ichiro holds up his own bento full of sushi, rice and a small thing of wasabi and nods to the girl "I came prepared for lunch but your offer is much appreciated."
