Genji continued to pet Mizuki's muzzle lightly while he watched the students interact with each other in a way that brought a slight bit of hope for this generation to his face.
"This is good. Everyone socializing, just like in animal training class. So tell me, why are each of you actually here? What is it that makes you want to join the RSPCA?"

"Well, I really would like to be a vet." She wagged her tails happily
I like the animal even the scary ones and I want to help mom in her sanctuary. But I think I need more training. Kiki lowered her tails.

Utaku Hitomi turns to Utaku Genji. She smiles at Mizuki and gently strokes her beloved friend's mane. "I love Animals. I mean I grew up on a horse ranch my whole life. I've had Mizuki with me for a long time now." She goes to say something else but then hesitates shaking her head. "I also really want to make friends. So I think having something in common will make that easier."

"I, uh..." Reiha blushes a bit. "I really feel that I should learn more about animals. Perhaps it will... you know... help me?"

Genji just nodded to each student in kind, assuming Koko translated to the rest of them for Kiki. "Those are all very noble goals, all of you. Most people don't realize just how important animals, whether they're simply a pet like Fenne here, or a service animal or even animals bred for battle like Mizuki or Freki and Geri can be in our lives. The shame of the matter, though, is that for every beloved friend and companion there are many animals who aren't as fortunate. Puppy mills meant to breed as many dogs for sale as possible without concern for the whelps or the breeding pairs. Animals that are beaten or starved by cruel masters. Even abandoned animals for whatever reason."
He looked to each of the girls and the other nameless, faceless students that sat in the tent with them, "But this isn't some extreme group, either. We'll raise awareness about animals kept in poor conditions and we'll go to veterinary clinics and animal shelters to learn and help the animals there but we won't be protesting lawful activities. It's still my duty to train animals for war as well as peace, but you have my word that my number one concern is making certain the animals are well cared for."
"Do any of you have any questions or concerns?"

Reiha raises her hand.
"Utaku-sensei, I just want to share with the other members I have a, well, issue with dogs. They react poorly to me, and I am very scared of them. It really can't be helped or fixed, so please, keep them away from me. I apologize for being a burden.
And I guess we need a captain? I am already captain of the manga club, so I'm out!"

"She has a point," Genji offers. "Both about the dogs and needing a 'face' to the club. Someone who is willing to take time to schedule some additional events for us and actually lead the events, both as a coordinator and by example. Do I have any volunteers?"
