Otomo Mochihiko is leaning against his car just outside the school gates. The young man is dressed in a fine suit and looks towards the courtyard waiting to see if Bayushi Chiyo will show up or not.

Mochihiko would hear the sound of someone huffing a bit as well as the rapid sounds of footfalls quickly coming in his...
*crash!*
Asako Ryoko began picking herself up off of the ground, dressed in her gym uniform despite the cooler temperature outside. The little Phoenix girl had her brown hair up into a ponytail, consistent with someone out for an evening jog. If Mochihiko were to notice, however, the girl somehow managed to just fall into the ground with nothing whatsoever to trip her.

Mochihiko's mood has been pretty sour by now. He has been here waiting for more than ten minutes now and Chiyo is nowhere to be found.
The Otomo watches the girl jogging and tripping, amusement starting to somewhat lifting his spirit. For a moment he thinks of actually helping her out. The next moment he finds no reason to do that. The moment after that, the young man is already by her side offering his hand to help her rise.
"Are you alright, Asako san?" He asks after checking her mon.

Ryoko nodded as she took the Otomo's hand to help her to her feet, "Don't kharma and shadows follow us all?" She then grimaced a little as she started to put some weight onto her right ankle, stepping on it tenderly.
"Domo arigatou," she notices his mon and then looks away in embarrassment before bowing very deeply to the boy. "Oh, Kami! Forgive this one, Otomo-sama. She didn't mean to inconvenience you! Surely you're a soul of great compassion to stop for even a moment to help one such as this one after despite her clumsiness!"

Tao reference? It makes no sense. Yet the Otomo bows as well and smiles warmly. People usually fall for such crap. "Compassion is in the heart of every true samurai. Even more for the ones coming from the Imperial families. Wouldn't any parent run to tenderly embrace and help their child up if they fell? But you seem in pain. Let me help you sit down and rest." He points to a bench by the school gates.

"But doesn't the Tao say fall down seven times, stand up eight?" came Ryoko's very unusual response as she finishes getting to her feet with his help. Even then she smiled a little to Mochihiko, letting the boy help her over to the bench by the gates, limping just a little.
"Arigatou, Otomo-sama. This one is Asako Ryoko and she again apologizes for being such a burden upon you."

"Mochihiko of the Otomo." He offers back. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Asako san. You shouldn't apologise. I don't believe that it is written anywhere that you have to stand up on you own the eighth time and you are by no means imposing, if you believe anything like that. I offered to assist you not asked to."
"How does your ankle feel? Do you need some ice, perhaps?" He asks.

Post by Bayushi Chiyo on Feb 7, 2018 20:53:10 GMT -5
It had been a rough morning for the Bayushi. For a slurry of reasons, each graver than the last, she was going to be late to this appointment.
For once, she was not dressed to be cute or to be fashionable. Chiyo was disturbingly minimalistic today, as if she had only just gotten up and thrown something on in a hurry. That was hardly the case, as one could tell by the usual amount of care she put into making herself up. But her get-up seemed half-hearted nonetheless. She didn't seem to be upset, but the way she strode was with purpose and drive. She started for the courtyard, noticed the Otomo as he assisted the clumsy Asako girl, but an abrupt sigh escaped her as she hesitated to approach any further.
She was ever so slightly jealous. Maybe. Okay, definitely. But mostly far too annoyed with her situation to let that sink in beyond the superficial. Once the Phoenix is back on her feet, Chiyo resumes her approach.
"That was quite a fall, Asako-san," she noted. "You should ice your ankle to prevent any swelling."
With a glance at Mochihiko she added a "I apologize for having left you to wait." It sounded strangely sincere.

Ryoko was about to respond to Mochihiko when Chiyo made her presence known. The little Phoenix girl looked over, blushing, "If pain is an illusion, why does it still hurt?"
Based on Chiyo's glance and her sincere apology to Mochihiko it was clear she'd stumbled into something, quite literally. The little Phoenix gets to her feet, still hobbling but getting around a little better, then opted to move as far away as she could. It was clear this was a private moment and she was intruding.
"I'll... just stay over here for now, Bayushi-sama, Otomo-sama. Thank you both for your kindness."

"I will check on you in a minute, Asako san." Mochihiko says. "You will need some ice for your ankle. Bayushi san is right."
With his good deed done for tonight, he bows to Chiyo. "I didn't wait long. Shall we get the ice and get going?"
