"Well yeah; You didn't think I... hey~!"
Momiko gently pushed Takano off of her so that Takano was once, more sitting up, Momiko smoothing out her yukata as she did the same.
"As I was trying to say, you don't think I decided to go out there and right wrongs without some sort of reason, right? Mei-sama's tinkering around with my genetics may not have gotten her what she wanted out of it, but it did have some side effects that might be helpful. Not that a Yukata here is exactly the best clothing to show you in. Kind of restrictive, I'd be more likely to just trip."

"Well... plus we're... still in the middle of dinner," Yoshi says. It didn't seem like the time for a display of superhuman acrobatics, though his eyes were twinkling with eagerness to see such feats at some point. "Maybe you could show me after?" He notes that she still referred to Mei by her name rather than as "mother", but again, that was possibly headway to be made later.

Mei gave a soft sigh and finished off the wine in her glass as Momiko nodded. Takano, for her part, stood up at this point, "I should probably go get some dinner myself. Should I bother trying to find you for this 'acrobatic display' and a tour of the place, or do you want to be alone with your Tamori-kins, Nee-sama?"
Momiko shot her little sister a glare, to which Takano held up her hands, "All right, all right... apologies."
That got a sigh out of Momiko, "No, it's fine. Just wish you would show him more respect. You can come along with us though, if you're fine with that?"
She said that last part looking at Yoshi directly.

"I don't mind your honored sister coming along," he answers. "I'd welcome more opportunities to prove to her I'm worthy of the greater respect you asked her to show me." He smiles at Takano, giving her a seated bow in expecatation of her departing to find her own meal. Once she's gone or at least on the way out of earshot, he'll lean forward to whisper to Momiko.
"So... you don't want to be alone with me?" he asks, giving her a grin and teasing wink afterward. Only a bit late does he remember that Mei's hearing is supposed to be unusually acute.

Momiko actually blushes at that, "I... you mean, like, show you my room and such?"
She looks up over her glasses, blushing more.
Takano is gone at this point. If Mei hears any of this, she doesn't mention it. Instead, she stands, "Unless you wish anything more, Tamori-san, I think I will eat the rest of my meal in the kitchen. It does not seem like my presence here is adding to your enjoyment of the meal, perhaps the opposite."

Yoshi's eyes go wide at Momiko's words, as it suddenly appears that she hadn't realized he was teasing, might even have thought he'd been flirting, and if that was the case, also seemed like maybe it had even... worked?
"Well, I'd... I'd like as thorough a tour... as you... as you're willing...," he says to her, trailing off. The logic centers of his brain are about to totally shut down when Mei's words bring him back to reality. His face falls as they do, and he shakes his head.
"No, Asahina-sama," Yoshi says insistently. "I... wouldn't want you to feel that way. I'm sorry... if I've spoken too bluntly or out of turn tonight... but even if you and I have our disagreements... we can... we can still enjoy a meal together. I... I want to earn your respect too, as much or more than that of Asahina Takano-san."

"My respect? Earn that? You are not going to do that in one night, Tamori Yoshi. At least not in the proper sense of the term. I respect your convictions, and that you are not so spineless as to not stand up for them. I respect the way you have kept yourself collected this evening, for the most part. I even respect that you are willing to apologize, though you need not. But one does not earn true respect in a day, at least not over a meal. That said..."
She sits back down, "It would be rude of me to disrespect the wishes of a guest, even if you are not MY guest per say."
Mei gave a little cough into her sleeve, turning into a longer one before it stopped and she picked up her fork, the servant waiting until that to put the third course in front of everyone.

"Thank you, Asahina-sama," Yoshi offers her quite sincerely, "both for your words and for staying. No... I don't expect your full respect all in one night... but the more time spent together... the less time overall it will take." He hopes she appreciated the simple logic.
"These are... a foreign sort of noodles, aren't they?" he asks as they begin the pasta course. "Have... either of you traveled much, either around the Empire or the world? Before coming here for school, the furthest I'd ever been from home was to a few of the larger cities of Clans that border the Dragon."

"I've never actually been out of Crane lands myself. I know the city pretty well though, all things considered."
Momiko seemed proud of the fact before looking to her mother, whose answer she wasn't actually one hundred percent sure of.
Mei looked at the noodles, "They are Unicorn style noodles actually, made with buckwheat and chicken eggs, of all things. They hold up well under sauces though. As to my own travels, I'll confess I have only been to Unicorn lands once, and never to Dragon lands. I've traveled many times to Lion and Crane and Scorpion lands though, and even a few times to the Mantis Isles, before the tragedy."

"I'm... surprised to hear that," Yoshi tells both of them. "I guess... I always thought families who were... well-off, such as your own... would have traveled all over, if not for business, then for... vacations? I would be honored to show you the mountains of my Clan some day." He smiles at Momiko specifically as he makes this offer, realizing only after speaking that perhaps Mei's and Takano's health issues had prevented such travel, though he chooses not to bring up such a potentially sore topic.
