That they continued to find themselves each other's equal in this skill...
The Mirumoto panted hard as he looked into her eyes, pride filling his features that he'd found someone who could challenge him in such ways that others hadn't. "Likewise, Kakita Uetani-san." He was slow to withdraw from her, but ultimately did so slowly. A few of the other students in the room had witnessed the spar but spoke noting on it, unaware what the two were discussing. "I would hate for to find out I was wrong in my assessment of you," he finally offered with a bit of a tease before placing his iaito at his hip.
Noboru motioned to the bottles of water he had nearby, offering, "May I get you some water and then maybe we can talk about what's on each other's minds?"

She bows to him, and waits for him to finish his drink, shaking thoughts out of her mind and focusing instead on being a friend

He actually offered her a bottle of water before taking a drink of his own, clearly trying to focus on things like courtesy and being friendly with someone and not just being always hurt or angry. Yet that pain always remained, weighing his soul down like an anchor.
"Someone has been lying to us all these last two years," Noboru finally offered after an awkward silence. "If what Kakita Tsuki-san told me last night is accurate, no one ever authorized a blood feud between our families."

That makes her raise a brow. Certainly the blood feud had not been as important as her as it has to him. Few things were as important to him, she could only imagine.
"Who has been lying to us? Why?"

"I wish I knew," came an honest response. "Apparently Kakita Tsuki's parents are two of the Heroes of the Onyx war and her father, Kakita Meta, has been speaking out that there is no feud but she can't give me answers as to why no one has listened nor why there isn't some record of him speaking about it."
He looks over to Uetani, the hand that carries his blade resting near hers without actually touching her. "Which means that whatever has happened is manufactured with the intent of our families, and possibly our Clans, at each other's throats. Between Kakita Ichiro's claims, Kakita Ibu's arrogance, Mirumoto Okoro claiming five of your own, and Mirumoto Okoro-shiryo's daisho not being returned..." He rubbed his temple a little with his free hand, "I'd say their mission is accomplished."

She sighs sadly "So much blood and arrogance, because they would rather listen to lies than peace"

"And how many more are out there like me? How many more are wanting justice or vengeance because of this? Because someone important to them died because of a lie or because of a manipulation of that lie?"

"One is too many." she sighs "That it has happened to you, is too many. The perception of a thing becomes greater than its reality. Do you have an idea where to begin? Can Kakita-sama give you more information?"

"She's looking into it, I've spoken to Mirumoto Aiko-" A pause. "Sensei about it. I may look into it myself as time permits, but I really don't know where to begin other than with Mirumoto Okoro and Mirumoto Hikari-chan."
He looked to Uetani, pausing to consider something carefully before nodding to seemingly no one. "I don't want to get you involved in something neither of us may end up walking away from depending on how far this hare burrow goes, but if you choose to look into this, I'd be indebted to you, Kakita-san."
A sigh.
"Though even with that, I have to be careful."
His eyes flit back to her, then flit away as shame and nervousness begin to overcome him. "I told Doji-san what happened the other night. Needless to say, it hurt her pretty badly."

"I... I am glad that you did. I think it is right for her to know, and I am sorry that I have come between you"
