"I already know you have my back~ you are the club came to make sure my lunch date went okay right? I am super happy you all did that, it really meant a lot to me. I hope you enjoyed the food there too, I know I did"
She nibbles a bit more, savouring the mix of flavours.
"I'm also not your typical Unicorn~ I identify a lot more with the Gaijin countries than I do my own home. I plan on travel some day. Although the more I get to know the people around school the more my opinion on that is changing in interesting and diverse ways."

"Oh? How has your opinion changed so far?"

"For instance, I used to think that all pretty girls were stuck up bitches. When in reality you're an absolute sweetheart and Mako is an energetic... well Mako. I don't think there's another word to describe that girl. The guys are pretty nice too and none of them have tried to snap my bra strap yep so that's a definite step up. There are a few things in class I disagree with but I've also learned that if I want to change things I have to do it from within and not just through stupid rebellion. If that makes any sense? It makes a lot more sense in my head."

"Yes, that made perfect sense. ...though I wonder how you could think all pretty girls are bitches when you are quite beautiful yourself."
Hinata paused, realizing how what she just said could be misconstrued.
"...that was not flirting. Just a statement of fact."
She cleared her throat, slightly embarrassed.
"As for changing things from the inside...I think there is some merit to that. Though one must remember that the celestial order is a real thing. If any grand change is to happen, it must happen naturally. Please remember that. I would not want to see you bring the wrath of the heavens upon your head."

Nade pondered teasing Hinata over the comment about her being pretty but in the end decided to drop it and simply smile in appreciation.
"Hinata, remember how we met? I uhh called you a slut. So, I'm not totally against my own mould there... as for going against the celestial order? I wouldn't dare but there are a lot of non-divine issues I would like to change. In fact I was thinking of asking Aiko-sensei if she would take me under her wing and teach me how to be a Kitsuki investigator. I really believe in her ideas of evidence over what he have now."

"That I can agree with. Evidence is far more pragmatic than the endless dance of he-said-she-said that takes place in the courts. More than one tainted creature has managed to work their way deep into Rokugani culture abusing such rules. For example, how is it rude to test someone with jade? If you are not tainted, nothing happens. You go on about your day having had your virtue proven. If you are tainted, that is the only logical reason to fear such a test. The whole mindset is idiotic."
She then shook her head, frowning.
"Though I think you are going to have to work hard to achieve that. A royal dynasty founded by a Kitsuki made very little headway in changing that. Not that I do not believe you can, but you will need help."

"Every journey starts with a single step Hinata. I know I have a very long journey ahead of me but I have to start somewhere ne? and if worse comes to worse I can just pass on my journey to my kids and force them to do it for me while I'm laughing down at them from Tengoku while sipping tea."
She takes another sip of her tea and ponders
"The thing I dislike the most so far is the stupid refusal stuff. "Hi, I got you this as a gift" "I don't want it" "But I bought it for you" "I don't want it" "But.. I bought it.. just for you" "okay I'll take it" pointless courtier nonsense."

Hinata chuckled as she sipped her tea.
"I detest that game as well. I find it is usually safer to play it with strangers than not, though. Among the Crab you almost never find it, but...there are far more than just Crab here."
She leaned back, putting a hand to her chin and looking down. She then began to think out loud.
"What I am curious about is how such traditions even came about. I mean, the Crane claim Doji came up with all of them, but would one of the Kami really come up with something so pointless? No, some of them have to have evolved naturally...to refuse a gift can be polite sometimes even without courtly nonsense getting in the way. Maybe it stemmed from a simple desire to be polite and not impose on others, then somehow became tradition? Maybe, but then why..."
As Hinata continued to ramble, it became clear she was talking to nobody but herself after the first few sentences. It seemed she had slipped into Kuni mode.

"You know Hinata, you are lovely when you talk about something you are interested in. I can definitely see why the Prince fell for you and while I am not the Prince I would love to talk to you some more about this but your food is going to be cold and we're going to miss our afternoon class if I let you ramble for another 4 or 5 hours."
Nade was of course poking fun at her friend, she had her problems with rambling over silly things like this.
"Especially if we want to get dessert on the way back to school. Also my treat"

Hinata stopped abruptly with a little 'hm?' of surprise, then blushed. Again, she wondered if that was the entire point of the face paint in the first place. That was something that warranted research, maybe she could start looking into it and--
No! No, get your head into reality, Hinata. You're here eating lunch with a friend, now is not the time to be a scientist.
"Ah...um...yes. Food, good. Dessert sounds lovely."
She was not hiding her embarrassment well at all.
