"Oh right, we were going to get the prince involved. Well... lets hope that calms her down but we should still be vigilant. Things always happen in the background around here and we just don't want it to sneak up on us again."
She takes a big bite of her food then before biting the bread that came with it.
"So how are things between you and the Prince? You two holding hands yet? have you kissed?"

Now that was a much happier topic. Hinata smiled, relishing the opportunity to banish the ugly worries that had wriggled their way to the surface.
"Yes, to each question. He is very sweet, and gentle, and considerate..."
Hinata visibly relaxed, her posture softening as she spoke.
"...I love him. I told him as much, and he told me back. I am very happy I met him, but..."
Hinata poked at her food a bit, still much more relaxed than she had previously been, but a hint of hesitation crept into her voice.
"...we already in potential marriage arrangements. I understand that the political situation calls for such a swift action, and I hope it succeeds, I really do; we even prayed to Benten together to bless the union, it just...seems a bit fast, you know?"

"I know I have a very unique take on the situation, my family is very odd in the whole romance department but I think that if you both love each other and there's a chance that it might be taken away because of the stupid rules of society then you need to do something. Whether that's getting married or eloping or whatever, if you truly love him I will bless whatever action you take and help to the best of my abilities."
This was the Hinata she liked best, the relaxed happy one. There was too much sorrow in this world surrounding her friend. Nade needed to keep this Hinata around. So a warm smile crossed her face.
"It might be going fast but we're teenagers. We're full of hormones and we suck at organizing our futures. Everything we do is impulsive, we need to jump on things right now and if they last, they last. If they don't then we figure out why and fix it for next time."

Hinata nodded.
"You are right. We only get to be teenagers for so long, we may as well enjoy it."
Hinata then began to eat her food for real, having been pulled out of her sorry state.
"There is still a chance it might be taken away, there are two other prospects that must be considered. I have faith in Benten, though. Yoshinobu loves me, and I love him. The other two are just political. The Nakodo is looking at the stars now, so if ever there was a time for Benten to step in..."

"I will offer prayers to Benten for you then Hinata, to ensure your heart is allowed to grow wings."
She nibbles on her food then, enjoying it more now that she had helped her friend perk up.
"I heard a story once about a pair of birds. Each had only one wing and without the other they could never fly. You could totally be a bird and Iweko-sama could be the other then you two get together and fly off into loveland."

"I hope so as well. Two birds, flying together...that is actually beautiful."
Hinata let out an amused 'hm'...then her expression became puzzled.
"...wait, does that not also imply the birds are disabled?"

Hinata chuckled softly.
"Perhaps he and I are soulmates. Maybe we were bound even before praying to Benten. Who can say but her?"
Hinata took another bite of her food.
"What about you? How are things going with that gaijin boy you have been dating...what is is name...Rodurigo?"

"It is Rodrigo and that is an interesting relationship. Neither of us really adhere to traditional Rokugan values in that regard so we're going at a much more interesting pace. I have to pin him down again for another date but for now things are going quite well. I can see something nice blossoming out of it."
More food, more nibbles, more sips of her tea. She had made a good choice for lunch.
"Though in the end it might just end up that my parents and his parents get into business together and we're just friends but for now I'm comfortable with calling him my boyfriend. We've got several years ahead of us before we graduate so plenty of time to define the relationship in our own terms."

"I am happy to hear it. It is good that you enjoy each-other's company, one can never tell with gaijin."
Hinata then began to fiddle with her fork.
"Not that there is anything wrong with dating a gaijin, I realize you Unicorn are more...open to such things. If he ever does anything untoward be sure to tell me though, alright?"
