Nade felt miserable over how things had been left over lunch the other day, Hinata was her friend and she didn't want things to end with her. So she sent out a quick text to Kuni Hinata earlier that morning. She waited for an answer then, fidgeting quietly. Later at the restaurant she had arrived a bit early, picking a table and ordering drinks as she waited for her friend... or potential ex-friend to show up. |

It did not take long for Hinata to send a response.
Hinata arrived at the restaurant with the strict punctuality typical of her. She looked around for Nadeshiko, and frowned when she saw her. Why did she look so nervous? Was this about yesterday, or did she have something else to say? Surely if she had something else to say she would have done so earlier. No, it seemed more likely it had something to do with what happened. Hinata wasted no time walking over and sitting down with her friend.
"Nadeshiko-san, are you okay?" she asked, not bothering with a formal greeting. They were close enough friends that Hinata did not feel the need for one. Well, at least she hoped so.

Nade looked up as Hinata arrived, standing for a moment until her friend sat down.
"I already ordered drinks, they should be here soon." she fell silent for a moment, staring at the cutlery laid out for her at the table. She was lost in thought for a few moments before she looked up once more.
There were bags under her eyes and her hair was a tad messy though still in her signature twintails. It was clear she hadn't slept well the night before.
"I just wanted, wanted to make sure everything was okay between us. I know I've messed up a few times in the past few days and I feel absolutely miserable about it... so I wanted to apologize again."

Hinata looked surprised. She thought she had made it clear she forgave her yesterday.
"Of course I am not mad at you."
Hinata reached out for her friend's hand, trying to be comforting.
"The Otomo was just doing what she does best, and you did not even actually fall for it. You came and told me. It hurt, I will not lie, but...I do not blame you. Do not even think that for a second."

Nade reached forward, taking Hinata's hand in her own and squeezing it gently.
"My mind likes to dwell on things, fixate on them and turn them over again and again and again. It picks everything apart to find the tiniest of connections, the smallest of things and even though I knew you had forgiven me yesterday it just... it focused on the wrong things. What if she was just being nice, what if inside she still hated me. It goes for the worst and best parts of every encounter and I just needed to quiet it down again, I needed to hear you say it again and you did and now I feel better and we can move on."
She fell silent then as the drinks arrived, just tea for now, as well as a pair of menus.
"You can order whatever you want, like I said. My treat."

Hinata smirked playfully.
"Well, if you truly feel the need to make up to me for it..."
Hinata looked over the menu, then ordered one of the most expensive things on it, along with a side of ice cream. She kept her eye on Nadeshiko, waiting to see how she would react.

"Ooph, going straight for my heart and my wallet hmm? Hehe, it's okay~ I'll have the same as my friend"
The waiter gathered the menus then and walked off, leaving the girls to talk alone once more.
"I also wanted to ask you a favour, for Friday. So this is also partly a bribe"

"I have an anniversary of sorts coming up and I'd like you to be there with me. As my friend. Heh, it'll be the first time I'll have a friend there. I don't really want to go into too many details right now but after school on Friday I'd like you to come somewhere with me. If it's a dealbreaker, Nomen the Scorpion girl will be coming too."
She stared down at her drink as she spoke, her expression darkening slightly as she spoke. This was obviously a touchy subject for the Unicorn at least for now.
"It's okay if you can't make it or are already busy, I just felt like... I could open up to you a bit more you know?"

Hinata frowned at the mention of Nomen, and was silent for a few moments, then sighed.
"Very well, I will go. I wish she was not going, but...I will go. For you."
Should she mention to Nadeshiko why she did not like the Scorpion girl? ...no, the less said about that the better. If Nadeshiko asked, she would tell her, but it was embarrassing enough that Hinata did not want to speak about it. Besides, from the look on Nadeshiko's face and the fact she had asked the question, Hinata felt like the girl had some inkling of what had occurred.
