Shibatsu Eito had sent out the invitation to the Unicorn he always saw hanging around Umeko earlier in the day. A simple invite of just two bro's at a Unicorn Run burger and beer joint where they can talk and Eito can figure out the best way to deal with his potential attraction to Umeko. I mean, it didn't help that the Unicorn was not at all unattractive in his own way? Maybe he could apply the Eito manuver? He needed to write home to the Spider and see if they would consider teaching that as a Shibatsu school technique since it has yet to fail him once. Then again he doubted that there were legions of bisexual or pansexual spiders capable of pulling it off. Lost in his thoughts Eito may not notice the arrival of Utaku Genji

Fortunately for Genji, Eito wouldn't notice his arrival as he sat down opposite the Spider teacher. He offered a polite nod to the host(ess) then picked up the menu, looking over it slowly.
"A shame this place isn't more popular. I think they make one of the best steaks for the koku."
He looks up over the menu then extends his hand toward the Shibatsu in greeting.

Eito looks up with a small start of surprise before on goes the warm smile. "I have considered offering them some help in advertising but I don't want to ruin the places feel. The food is fantastic through." he says before he offers his own surprisingly soft hand to the Utaku, clearly he hasn't done a lot of hard work in his life.
"Thank you for joining me though. Has the day been kind to you so far?"

"So far the Fortunes have favored me, though," he smiles, shaking the hand with a firm grip before putting it back on the menu, "the day is still young and I think I heard a Togashi once say the Fortunes are fickle. You?"

"So far the day has been well. Somewhat disappointed with the turnout of my Economics class. Everyone there is wealthy heirs and heiresses. Important of course but I wanted to see someone born with less so I could help them rise up." he says with a small nod.

"A lot of Rokugan still sees economics as 'peasant work', Shibatsu-san," the Unicorn responds. "They may understand its importance, but they find it distasteful to acknowledge. Some call it traditionalism, others stagnation. Me?"
A shrug, "As long as the animals are fed and cared for and the stables and pens are well kept, it doesn't bother me so long as the transactions are handled honorably and honestly."

"Economics covers upkeep and growth though. After the war, I made my fortune by helping with the rebuilding. So many still saw the stigma that they didn't know how to organize and fund ways to put cities back up, re-open supply lines. All that stuff. It's frustrating." he says before he shrugs and then looks up straight into the other mans eyes.
"But so...the reason I wanted to talk to you. I would like you to be honest with me, man to man. Do you have feelings for Unmeko-sensei?"

Thankfully the answer to the question would have to wait, at least a little bit. Genji seemed poised to answer when the server came to take their orders. The Utaku had ordered something simple - a cheeseburger, medium well, with a side of vegetables and a tea that had become increasingly rarer due to the Onyx war and its aftermath: strawberry blend, a blend from the Mantis Isles. They were, after all, still 'on the clock' and it wouldn't do well for the sensei to return to work with alcohol on his breath.
Only after Eito gave his order and the server responded did the Utaku start stroking his chin, no longer having a menu to hide behind. "My feelings for Umeko-san, or lack there of, are my own business. But more importantly, I want her to be happy." Genji smiled as he looked in the direction of the school as best as he could, head resting on h is left fist as his left arm propped it up. "To have someone that can genuinely care about her. For them to care for each other and find Hotei's contentment and Benten's love, guided by Fukurokujin's wisdom and Bishamon's strength when times are difficult. For their union to be blessed with Jurojin's longevity because that level of commitment always needs to be mindful of Ebisu's work, even if Daikoku's own blessing is lacking."

Eito himself orders a large cheeseburger as well as fries with various toppings and a soda. His voice pleasant the whole while. When it comes back to the question at hand he sighs slightly.
"I have no idea what she wants, or if it's what I can offer her. I have my flaws as a man, especially by the standard of those who follow more traditional systems. I want to make it my business because I actually genuinely like her. Sure I would like to enjoy her company while she enjoys mine but..I also want to just see her happy. And if you want to give her all that stuff you wish for her....." he sighs and thinks a moment. "Look, I use my looks and manner to help me with my business and my duty to my clan. And I enjoy the company of others in all forms. But I enjoy seeing people happy, following their passions. I would feel like the worst if I let selfishness get in the way of love. And could I love her? I think I might over time, but if you already love her now."

Genji just listened to Eito speak on the matter. To be honest, that was absolutely not the answer he had expected to hear from the Shibatsu and yet...
"Hai, I think.." A pause. "Iie, I know I've loved her for some time, it just took you and Asahina-san actually taking interest in her to open my eyes. But there's only so much I can do for her."
He chuckled a little. It was one of those 'listen to how ridiculous this sounds' chuckles that illustrates why marrying him would be a bad idea. "I'm a male born into a matriarchy where most of our men marry out and those who don't are usually a good bit higher in status than me. If she asked me to marry her and join her in the waves, I'd do so in a heartbeat but... what kind of life could I provide for her like that? For any children we had together? And how difficult would it be for her to marry into the Utaku, of all families? The Unicorn may be known for Shinjo no Kami's compassion, but we still have our own hardliners who might turn a nose at her for not being born Utaku and marrying into the family. I wouldn't want her doubting if marrying me was the right thing for me or feel she was holding me back."
