An email would have gone out before classes started for the day letting all students in the Animal Training classes know that the class was to be outside, despite the inclement weather. Further, students were informed to bring their closest companion with them to the courtyard with a note that all such companions must be properly restrained for the protection of everyone taking the class.
Utaku Genji waited atop a hill, his steed Arashi standing just behind him, reins in the Unicorn's hands. Laying at his feet are two canines, what look to be Kai Ken. The old horse shakes just a bit, trying to get some of the water out of its coat and mane then snorts slowly. A gloved hand comes up to stroke the horse's muzzle, offering simply, "There, there, Arashi. We won't be out here too long today."

Utaku Hitomi and her faithful companion Mizuki would enter. Utaku Hitomi had her umbrella open to shield her from the rainy weather. Mizuki herself was garbed to also protect her as best as one can. She looks to Utaku Genji and prods Mizuki. "Apologize to the Sensei Mizuki for all the trouble you caused at the stables yesterday." Mizuki looks to Hitomi and then back to Utaku Genji offering the Slight bow. Utaku Hitomi bows as well. "Forgive me sensei and Mizuki sensei."

Unlike 99% of the students, Joo-Eun is one of the few people who shows up without a companion, as has no animal companion she is close to at the moment, and it is unlikely that the sensei would accept a human equivalent. So, she arrives and looks all awkward.

Seijuro is next to arrive, the Akodo draped in a poncho to keep the rain from completely soaking his uniform. He has his pony Bunsho with him for class this morning, the black horse seeming quite anxious.
"Good morning, sensei," Seijuro greels with a respectful bow. Then, he looks over to Hitomi. For a moment, he is silent, until he bows to her in greeting as well.
"Good morning Utaku Hitomi-san."

A single foxgirl with a tiny fox made her way to the meeting place of the Animal Handling class. She seemed a bit concerned that she wouldn't understand the sensei or the others in the class. She looked scared as the tiny fox licked her face.

Genji watched as the students arrived one by one, a sigh offered as Joo-Eun shows up without her horse; it's not like he didn't expect it, but it still bothered him that the girl was more interested in the "infantry" portion of her school to the point she seemed willing to ignore the "mounted" portion that goes hand-in-hand.
He bows to Hitomi first, chuckling politely as he walks up to Mizuki. The horse would sense him as a friend as he reached up to pet the Utaku steed on the muzzle. "You're both forgiven, Utaku-san, but I would like some more information on what happened after class is over so that we can make sure it doesn't happen again, alright?"
Then to Seijuro he bowed while noticing Bunsho's anxiousness. "Is Bunsho alright, Seijuro-san?"
Finally he noticed the foxgirl and her fox. He motioned the Phoenix closer while waiting the Lion's answer concerning his steed.

She let down the little fox at her side. The fox started walking forward looking at Kiki all the time as he begged the girl to follow her. The Phoenix girl slowly walked toward the sensei a bit shyly.

Sesshu was there relatively early, and waved to his classmates as they arrived, but now his attention's on his sensei. He's brought Chichi out of the pen she lives in while he's here, leaving her daughter Sensen behind to fend for herself. There are hardly threats to a young lion here, but Chichi is still incredibly anxious about leaving the cub, even though she's been weaned. Sesshu can feel that anxiety, as he rests his hand on the young mother's side, and he calms her, stroking her gently.
He's wearing a raincoat over his uniform, but it's open, and he's kneeling on the ground, his lioness next to him. She looks oddly patchy from the rain, and her feet are stained with mud.

Seeing the lion in the class, Kiki quickly ran behind the sensei. Animal instinct on the poor fox girl was difficult to resist. Most of the predators she has seen where small animals that her mom and her cousin bring to the sanctuary. Fenne followed not as scared as his owner. He yipped at Kiki and pulled her hakama. She calmed herself down.

The lion is muzzled and wearing hot-pink rubber claw caps, to her dismay. Not that she would attack anyone without Sesshu's command, but better to make others comfortable as possible. ... Not that it seems to help.
