It's charming in a cute, sort of pathetic way. That tiny kerchief isn't going to perform any miracles as it is not anywhere near as absorbent as a towel and far smaller than one too. He would have been just as well off using a paper towel or a few napkins from the cafeteria. If Chiyo didn't find stuffing napkins into her purse to be too ratchet for her tastes, she'd probably get to keep the handkerchief. Instead, when he offered to wash and return it she waved it off.
"I would feel better if you held onto it, in case you need it again in the future. Though I should hope you will be better prepared for this weather next time," she says as she makes a minor gesture at the sky beyond the ceiling.
Not only that, but leaving Yoshi with a souvenir will also act as a tether.
Whether she wasn't sure how to respond or simply did not want to stir the air with too much small talk, she started to talk about the place she was interested in eating at instead.
"Have you ever eaten at the Pocket Parlor in the restaurant district? It has a gaijin name, but they have all sorts of ah...they're not dumplings, but they call them...ah...well, they're made of corn and they're filled. It's a small place but the food is really good."

"I've only gone into the city to buy incense so far, since I got here," he tells Chiyo. He looks out the window at the buildings speeding past. "I guess you probably know just about every part of it, since you're a Third Year." He turns back to the girl seated beside him, seeing her beauty but wondering what lay beneath.
"Do you have a favorite place in the city?" he asks. "Not only to eat, like where we're headed, I mean... just somewhere you enjoy being?"

She could give the honest answer, but for someone like Yoshi it could seem a little too materialistic. She would have to find a suitable way to answer that question without coming off too superficially.
"I like to visit the largest mall in Toshi Ranbo, mostly to window shop," she admits, still staring out at the passing streets herself. But I usually buy something because why go out if you're not gonna end up getting something out of it. It isn't window shopping when you end up coming home with an expensive purse or a new pair of designer sunglasses. Still, she can't go too wild with the allowance she used to be allotted, now less due to her third year blunder.
"I try to go once a season to see what sort of stock they rotate in. Sometimes interesting shops turn up from time to time."

"I'd like to see more of the city," Yoshi tells her. He wonders how large the mall in the Capital must be, compared to the biggest one he's ever seen in Dragon lands. "If you haven't already been recently... maybe we could go together some time? There aren't any classes tomorrow." He imagines being with Chiyo as she beams at a selection of new items or gasps at discovering a surprising new store. Just the thought of seeing her happy makes Yoshi feel the same, bringing a smile to his own face.

Hm...tomorrow. Chiyo didn't have a whole lot planned for then, but she wasn't sure that they should spend time together with such frequency unless they were officially dating or something. To her, this was not at all what it likely seemed to be. She just wanted to make sure this little Dragon felt special enough to stay at her heel, and with the rumors already going around that they were a thing, she didn't want to stress it any harder than it had been.
"We'll see," she decided, leaving the option open. "I may need to spend the afternoon studying, not to mention the party at Katsumi's tomorrow."
She was only half-lying. She wanted to sleep in for sure, but that was if she even had the chance to do so. Her days tend to get busy with activity fast, and as cute as Yoshi-san could be, he wasn't the main attraction.
"You should go," she offered. "I don't think I saw you at Mako-chan's party but this one should be quite interesting."

"I didn't know there already was one," he says, recalling Otomo Mako from Sincerity Class and the walk there beforehand. She did seem like the type to throw a party on or before the first day of school. "My roommate, Akodo Ichiro-san, told me about the party tomorrow and is insisting that I go."
He's unsure if Chiyo is implying that she'd be there or not, but he doesn't want to press the issue and ask after her non-committal response to asking to go to the mall with her. Also in light of her lukewarm reception to the idea, he stops himself from reminding her that she'd suggested that they study together, too.

"He does have a point," she says, gesturing as if motioning towards said point. "Remember what I've told you about connections. It's your first year. This is your first and most important opportunity to make some lasting impressions."
She finally pulls her attention away from the window and back to him, noting that she might have dropped him a little too hard. Very sensitive, this one. She's going to have to be more careful.
"I will be there, though unless I get a ride again I may end up late." She didn't think Yoshi had a car--most first years don't whether or not they can afford it. Still, there was no way she'd be caught dead taking the bus. Tarik would probably give her a lift no problem. Hopefully Yoshi would not take it so hard that she hadn't suggested they'd go together, but she knew it'd be pretty awkward if they did. Tarik might not be an option anymore and it was extremely unlikely her father would take her there. Maybe they could hitch a ride with the Otomos but that would present its own problems later.

"I've met a lot of people the last three days," Yoshi recalls, nodding at her words about connections. Smiling at her, he adds quietly, "I... haven't gone to dinner with any of them but you." He did still want Chiyo to know, she was special. When she tells him about potentially being late to the party, it's clear that she's not asking him to go with her, but he doesn't let that dampen his spirits.
"I'm glad you'll be there," he tells her, further driving home his previous point.

This was...actually kind of starting to creep her out a little. She never had this kind of crush to contend with before. It was usually some drooling guy whose ego couldn't be contained, who didn't know the difference between attention and insult. She never actually tried to score one of the shier, weaker broods because they simply didn't catch her attention. Last year kids like this practically didn't exist, like ghosts wandering the halls that could be bumped into or tripped over. They were nobodies.
Now one of them is sitting by her practically worshiping the air that she breathes and it's starting to crawl under her skin.
"I'll definitely try to make it," she says, glancing back out the window again. They were a block away from their stop, from the look of it. The ride felt long despite how short it actually was. There were very few stops between the school and the restaurant district.
"Club day is coming up," she tries, hoping the change in subject will take his mind off her just a tad. "You get to pick five if I remember correctly. Have any idea what you might go for?"

"I'm most interested in Choir," Yoshi answers eagerly. He takes a moment to remember the other four clubs he'd earmarked, about which he was less enthused. "The others I was thinking about were... Anime and Manga Club, Temple Restoration, Tea Club, and Students for Peace." He cocks his head the side as he looks at Chiyo whie her attention is more out the window than on him.
"What clubs did you join your First Year?" he asks her.
