Rodrigo puffed out his chest and put his hands on his hips.
"Kenjutsu!"
He then deflated a bit, looking embarrassed.
"I, ah, I don't know what jiujutsu is..."
He then turned to Ryuha and bowed.
"I am Rodrigo Azerola. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance of a lady so beautiful as yourself, if you do not mind me saying so, Lady Mirumoto."
He flashed Ryuha a cheeky grin. Oh boy.

"You speak our language pretty well Rodurigo-san," Ryuha replied, a small smile on her own face. She knew now how to greet in Merenese, but wasn't skilled enough to say his name correctly.
"Thanks, though I'm hardly dressed like a maiden. Oh, Jiujutsu is hand to hand, by the way."

"I'm good with either kenjutsu or jiujitsu," Kobushi answers. "Though after my poor performance in kenjutsu class, I think a refresher on swords is a good idea."
"And jiujitsu is a catch-all term for a lot of hand-to-hand combat forms. It's actually what I'm good at, over a sword."
He seems impressed at Ryuha as she speaks in the gaijin's tongue.
"Since there's four of us, why don't we pair off to spar? Unless one of you thinks they can take the rest of us all at once, I mean. Definitely won't be me."

Rodrigo chuckled warmly.
"Well, unfortunately it's about the only thing I got out of the lessons that dusty old drunk of a Doji taught me. I'm glad it took, though, otherwise I'd be hopeless" he responded, also in Merenese.
He put his thumb and forefinger to his chin, stroking it.
"Hand to hand, you say? I imagine it is more sophisticated than simple street fighting" he said, speaking in Rokugani again.

He nodded his head toward the weapon rack.
"Would anyone like to spar with me? I could use the practice."

Ichiro beams at Rodrigo "yeah man let's do it, I'd love to get some sparring in." Ichiro grabs his safety gear and puts it all on before getting his bokken out and placing his daisho on a weapon rack. "I'll be interested to see how your people fight."

"I suppose that leaves you and me for now, Daidoji-san?" Ryuha asks, sitting her things down and to the side away from the main floor area. She begins to do some light stretching in the meantime, needing to warm up a little to get herself limber.

"Of course, Akodo-san. Perhaps this time I will do a bit better, last time I tried it against iaijutsu and...well, let's just say our cultures duel very differently."
He chuckled, and went to grab a bokken.
