"That would require me to have friends, sensei," came a rather tense response from the Mirumoto student. "And I haven't made up my mind. Figured I'd at least watch first. See if it's actually worth my time."

"Ah. I seem to have noticed at least one person who would claim to be your friend, Noboru-san, but seeing as she is not here, I will not press the issue," Aiko replies, before turning her attention to the group, "Traditionally, captainship of the Kendo Team has gone to the best swordsman, as determined by a brief tournament. This is fine and has worked well in the past. However, one of the Duties that the team captain has to shoulder is the responsibility of working to inspire and motivate their team, as well as helping their teammates improve and grow. And while it is possible to be a great swordsman and also have the traits necessary to teach and lead, not all great swordsmen are up to the task. So instead of just the traditional tournament, the top four finishers will undergo an additional test to determine their suitability for the role of team captain. Tournament is single elimination. Akodo Seijuro-san. Ichiro Priya-san. You two are up first."

Seijuro strides forward to the center of the dojo, offering the Badger a respectful bow of acknowledgement.
(OOC: What are the rules we are using for this Aiko? Same as class?)

The Akodo knew the Badger were strong. He would have to be strong and quick both if he hoped to win. He wastes no time beginning the spar, lunging forward to try and score a quick tap under the girl's guard. (OOC: 35 - orokos.com/roll/591969)

Ryouko walked in as the group was setting up, pausing for a second in the doorway. Tarik had decided not to accompany her to the Kendo club for some reason so she was alone. The Unicorn raised an eyebrow as she saw the teacher placing Seijuro against Priya. Quietly, she moved toward the main group, pausing by Noboru and speaking softly to the Dragon. "I thought there wouldn't be any classes today? Is this only a demonstration?"

Noboru looked over to Ryouko as she whispered to him, a little bit of a smirk on his features as he stood back to watch. He glanced back toward the two students, offering simply, "This isn't a demonstration or a class. It's a tournament, much like the Tournament of the Kami. The winners advance, the losers are eliminated from contention as club captain."

Understanding flickered on her face, and she nodded her thanks for the explanation. Scanning the area, she soon spotted the paper where people had been jolting down their names. Ryouko walked over to it, writing hers neatly. Her eyes scanned the rest of the list and she frowned slightly before walking back over to Noboru. She stared him down, one hard resting on her hip.
"Your name isn't on the list." She remarked, tilting her head slightly before looking toward the duel.

"I haven't decided if it will be on the list or not," he offered with a little bit of a sigh before looking to Ryouko. Even then his gaze was averted a bit as he believed he knew what the Utaku would think. "I've only joined one club in the three years I've been here, and I joined it because I thought Hoshiko-chan might like it: I joined Utaku Hisui-sensei's choir."
He looked back to Ryouko, then looked away again. "I've never joined any other club, including iaido or this one."
