Izumi had been eagerly watching the fights trying to see what she could learn. She was impressed by the standard but determined to do as well as she could. Though nervous at least she already had the captaincy of basketball so it shouldn't go too wrong. She stepped forward, trying to suppress her last second nerves, returning the bow and carefully studying her opponent ready for the start.

Sakura is the first to make a move, swinging towards the Akodo quickly. ((Kenjutsu/Agi: 33))

Izumi tried to block the swift strike but wasn't quite in the right position, she mentally cursed herself for focusing too hard and missing the strike. She felt the hit as it narrowly missed her defensively placed blade, raising her hand to acknowledge the blow. She stepped back to give herself a second to suppress her disappointment and refocus before going back on the attack trying to score a point of her own. sparring: 7d10o10k3 26

Sakura smiles, relishing the chance to hone her skills in the arena of battle, even a simulated one. Of course, this is probably impossible to see under the all-covering facemasks of the Kendo equipment, but she keeps up the tempo, trying to just lose herself in the moment. ((Kenjutsu/Agi, round 2: 23))

Izumi was pleased for the fight to be high tempo as it covered up her defensive weaknesses. Now in the rhythm of the fight she could feel herself relaxing and now striking more fluently. She backed away to create distance and give her more time, picking her opportunities to strike between the flurry of blows. sparring: 7d10o10k3 27

A touch against her. How interesting. This would prove to be an interesting challenge. She returns to her stance, then starts to move suddenly, trying to use her free hand to distract and create an opening for her to strike. ((Kenjutsu/Agi: 36))

((And seeing as the Akodo seems to have dropped...we'll move on to the next bit, assuming Sakura wins.))
After the final blow in the duel, which Sakura wins, Aiko makes motions for someone out of the room, "Alright. Now, why don't we move on to the next step. Those of you who won your duels, please step forward."
As they do so, a group of children enter the room, who are wearing bogu and carrying shinai somewhat awkardly.
"Now, the challenge I have for the prospective captains. Not only must they be be a good swordsman, they must also be a teacher, to encourage their fellows and help them achieve the best of their potential. Therefore, your next challenge is to teach one of these children enough of the basics to be able to handle the blade. You will have thirty minutes and you will be judged on the child's stance at the end of the thirty minutes," Aiko says.
((The system for this will be Kenjutsu/Awareness. Highest roll wins.))

Ichiro wasn't terrible with kids and knew kendo well enough that he did a pretty good job for someone who has never taught before. Teaching roll: orokos.com/roll/609424 34

Sakura is able to convey some of the teachings, but she isn't able to do much, as she's still getting a feel for the blade herself. ((Ken/Awareness: 22))
