"Well, not every club needs it. I know that the Kendo club won't need any guest speakers, for example," Aiko replies, "And besides, how are you going to get much better than a gold medalist as sensei, Akane?"

"...oh. I mean... I meant like to give speeches or learn or stuff like that. Figured that's what you meant. I mean, if it's just swimming, not much better than me I suppose. ...though I think I can at least give pretty darn good inspirational speeches."
Akane found it funny how she was more embarrassed to say things around Aiko; For most people it seemed like it worked the other way, with being more shy around strangers and more gregarious around those they cared most for. But Akane found she was more thoughtful, both in what she said and what she did, around Aiko-chan. Perhaps more so than anyone else.

Aiko, who was always aware of this, because how could she not, always found it sweet how Akane spent more time thinking when it came to her, because it meant that she was important to the former Lion and, somehow, knowing that Akane was always wanting to slow down and make sure she did things right by Aiko was something that always made her feel rather blessed.
"I know I always felt better after one of your pep talks, Akane. I never could thank you enough for them."

Akane smiled lightly, her doubts largely erased with a simple sentence, "Mmmm... I remember you DID have an odd ability to win track races the times I managed to go out and cheer for you~"

Aiko nods a little, "Hai. When you believe in people, Akane, it tends to be a bit infectious, rather like your enthusiasm."

"So... is it proportional to the enthusiasm or belief you have then? Cause if it is, I'm a pretty powerful infection prolly."
She grins, even as two water glasses with orange slices in them are set down.

"Mm. I would put it as equal parts both, Akane," Aiko replies, picking up her water and sipping before taking one of Akane's hands and giving it a gentle squeeze, "It's one of the reasons I always knew I couldn't have a bad day when you were near."

"Aiko-chan..." she says, trailing off with a smile, "I'm just sorry I couldn't have been around for you more often then. Not that you don't still have wonderful people to keep you happy."

"Mm. Funny. I was going to say the same for you, Akane. I kinda...drifted away after all of that mess and I shouldn't have," Aiko replies, a bit embarassed. It seems they both regret not being there for the others.

"Well hey; You had your reasons. And you ended up with a supportive husband, two lovely kids, and a comfortable job. I'm glad you did too, all of it. Cross my heart."
Akane smiled brightly.
