Satoru likewise bowed. He wished he could put aside his concerns, but they kept eating at him even now as he stares down his opponent and tries to focus. It'll be little to no avail and he knows it. With all this distraction, all the stress he's putting on himself whether it is or isn't there, he is far more tense than usual. He raised his bokken and the match commenced. (Mine were: : 3#6d10ro1o10k2 18 13 16) ;u; Not once, not twice, but three times bested out of three. Every hit he took felt deserved. He didn't appear to be spiteful at all, or even frustrated. He was disappointed in himself mostly. Even if he found his niche in Iajutsu, how could he ever expect to master the art of dueling if he can't even master the use of his blade? He bows at the end of their bout, ignoring any bruises he might have sustained in the process. He didn't even put up a good fight. How embarrassing...

Aiko scores the three points, "Now. Bow and thank the opponent. Satoru-san, you are thinking too much about how you are going to fight, instead of acting. Calm yourself."
A pause, "Are you going to come to Kenjutsu class tomorrow, Daidoji-san?"
She will get to the Matsu in time, but she's focusing on the weaker student first, strengthening him up.

Once the closing ritual is complete, Satoru can finally breath a little easier. Yeah, now he's breathing. Why's he such a living, screaming mess today?
He really does need to calm down. A rough day isn't going to be much of an excuse when trouble comes knocking. He needs to be grateful that his opponent wasn't actually trying to kill him. Not that dying sounded so bad after such a blunder.
"Yes," he responds, a slight tremble to his voice. He clears his throat and tries again. "I will. I must improve."
If his father could only see him now, being chided by a Dragon, one of the Seven Thunders. It's a good thing he only cared so much about what Daidoji Daichi thought.

Ichiro let his blade down as the third point was scored his breathing was heavy and he almost snapped back to reality brain resuming normal functions slowly. He bowed and thanked his opponent "I appreciated the match Daidoji-san, I hope we can do it again sometime. I feel like you have great potential." He bowed again to the sensai and got in a relaxed stance as he awaited feedback from the teacher as she spoke to the Crane.

Aiko looks at Satoru, then gently, "You will in time. Do not rush it. For now, you need to learn to let go, instead of focusing on what you must do. When facing an opponent who is not giving you time to work through your thoughts, you will be at a disadvantage. That is what Akodo-san was able to exploit. It will take practice, which is why I was also going to suggest instead of attending kenjutsu tomorrow, you take that time to practice meditation. I will not turn you away if you are wishing to study the sword instead, but consider my advice. Sometimes, a bit of time to reflect is what is needed to hone one's skill."

"Understood, Mirumoto-sensei." He bows his head in understanding, then looks to Ichiro with a faint smile. "Thank you, Akodo-sama. Our match was enlightening. I hoped to learn from it."
What he'd give to just be struck down with lightning now. She doesn't even want to see him in class. More like a sit in the corner and think about what you've done. He's glad he's only just taking the men off now. He's given himself just enough time for the color to clear from his cheeks.
He could use the break for meditation, honestly. With school starting and the speech he was fed before leaving home, he felt like a massive weight was lurching on his shoulders. If he couldn't get it down, if he kept trying to fight with such a burden on his back, he'd just end up crashing and burning.
Perhaps later today he'd try at it, maybe take to the courtyard while it was still relatively empty.

Aiko nods, looking at the Daidoji quietly for a few moments, not sure if he really got her intent, but hoping he did. She sighs inwardly, looking to the Lion.
"Now. Akodo-san. Your problem is that you need to spend more time thinking about how you strike and why. Against an opponent like Daidoji-san, who is likely used to a more measured opponent, it was effective, allowing you to overwhelm him. But against an opponent who is used to and is expecting that aggression, you left yourself wide open at several points. The Matsu way is to overwhelm, but against say, a student of Hida or Mirumoto, you will have trouble, if the student stays calm."

Ichiro bowed deeply hearing the sensei's words. "yes Mirumoto-sensei, I have always had a problem with control. It is why I was sent from the Akodo Bushi School to the Matsu they decided going to a place that could use my recklessness was better for me. I will think about what you have said I can only try harder to improve myself." He bowed again.
He looked at the crane boy. "Perhaps we could spar again sometime? I could teach you to let go a bit more and you could maybe show me how you focus on things so much."

Overhearing Ichiro's review, he might have seen it for himself if he were spectating as opposed to getting his ass handed to him. All he saw on his end was a flurry of blows he could barely keep up with. Back at the old dojo he was supposedly one of the more skilled students. Maybe among Cranes he was sufficient at sparring, but diversity builds strength. He wasn't going to improve much more than he had if he stayed at that school.
"I would appreciate that," he says to the Lion, fighting the urge to nurse one of the bruises forming on his wrist. "Though I failed to focus as much as I ought to have. I hope I could be equally useful to you somehow."
If Ichiro had a car or knew how to drive he could definitely teach the Lion a thing or two most samurai don't know, but that sort of thing shouldn't come up within these walls. If only he was half as focused in this duel as he was behind the wheel.

"Akodo-san, the Matsu, despite being about letting out the rage, are more about directing that rage. It requires control as well as letting go completely."
