"of course Mirumoto Sensei, You are right and I agree. It is why I wish to work on my own control."

Noboru had been watching it all with a bit of disinterest, even fidgeting a bit since he'd left his guitar behind in his locker so didn't have it to distract him from the pointlessness of what was going on. And yet his eyes fixate on the sensei more than anything else, occasionally scowling before finally turning away.
"I don't know why I bothered to come here," he mutters under his breath before finally hefting up his bokken and moving over to the practice dummy just close enough that he appears to enter an iaijutsu stance.

Aiko bows to the Lion and Crane, "Anyway, I will leave the two of you two finish up as you see fit."
She glances over her shoulder, looking now at Noboru as if only just noticing him. She makes note of his stance, not offering critique at the moment, as the young man is known to her, and she also knows he is probably not in his element at the moment. She sighs inwardly.
And there is the one who is most likely to give me a headache this year.

The Dragon closes his eyes as he pushes out all distractions, even his own natural irritations and awkwardness. He breathes slowly, feet setting themselves while hunching down just a touch. His upper body leans forward, left hand coming to grip on the bokken at his side. As he slips into the Void the world seems to slow down for him.
Noboru's eyes open then narrow...
Would he have been carrying steel there would have been a flash. Instead, everyone in the dojo would hear a loud CLACK as the wooden weapon strikes the dummy in the chest! Against a human opponent? Probably not as impressive, but then this activity seems to be meant for more than just practicing his techniques. Especially as the Mirumoto enters the stance again. And again. And again. Striking harder and harder each time...
... until he begins rubbing his arm to soothe out some of the pain.

"Careful, cousin. You might sprain something," Aiko comments after watching the other Dragon for a few moments, then a pause, "And might I ask if you have something on your mind, as simply striking a dummy over and over, while great for venting anger, is not the same as dealing with the root."

Noboru sighs a bit as the sensei addresses him, turning to look back toward the woman. He bows to her, clearly not deep enough to show the woman proper respect for being a sensei, let alone one of the Seven Thunders or someone simply of higher status than him, then looks away as his discomfort begins to show.
"Nothing of importance, sensei," the Mirumoto offers with a bit of an annoyed sigh before going quiet.

Meanwhile, as the Daidoji was going through the motions and putting supplies back where they belonged, he contemplated the course of his day and what possible good could come of this failure. He wanted to salvage something from all this, and perhaps the Lion was just being polite in offering some wisdom but...he could use some help and some insight from a family whose fighting style is so different to his own.
Once the supplies had been put up, he approached Ichiro. He was nothing other than humble in his shadow at this moment.
“If you’re really up to it, I don’t have any plans this afternoon,” he mentioned. “And...I did not mean to interfere with your practice at all. I was hoping in coming by early, I wouldn’t be disturbing anyone.”

Ichiro looked at the crane boy, noting he seemed a bit sheepish. "certainly Daidoji-san I believe I have the afternoon free as well. Don't worry about interrupting, I'm always happy to spar." He gives the crane a wide genuine smile. He continues to pack his stuff up and gets ready to take on the rest of his day. "lets meet back up here this afternoon ok Daidoji-san?"

Noboru glances over at Ichiro and Satoru a moment, then away again before turning back to the practice dummy.
"I take it they're going to be in your class this year, sensei?" he continues while hefting up his bokken in preparation for something else. "Lion-sama could use more Water to temper his Fire, while Crane-san..." Only san? "...could stand to be a bit more like Air to balance his Earth." All of this is said loud enough for both Satoru and Ichiro to hear Noboru.

"Absolutely. I'll return soon after lunch."
He likewise began to gather his things, unable to help overhearing Noboru as he remarked on their shortcomings. Criticism he could handle from a teacher or a peer that proved to know more than himself about something, but when it came from a complete stranger nearly his own age, it sat poorly in his gut. He threw a glance Noboru's way that betrayed his offense, but it softened as he cast his gaze downward. He failed in front of all to see. In a way he deserved this.
He didn't even note the change in honorific--honestly it's no secret how the typical Dragon feels about the typical Crane. Family grudges run deep in Rokugan. Fortunately and unfortunately Satoru shared very little with his fellow Cranes. It was a waste of energy to make enemies.
Besides...it's not like Noboru was completely wrong. His old master would say the same thing. Not enough Air. Especially today. He could really, really use some air.
