"What's there to figure out?" he mutters softly while trying to avoid pretty much everyone. "I was standing up for clansmen or myself in those duels last year. If Kakita Ibu-san never carries a blade again, that's his fault for issuing the challenge in the first place. If people still can't get the point, then I just need to be stronger until they finally get it."

When the newcomer enters, the Daidoji is just about ready to turn on his heel and leave, tipping his head to the Mitsu when Noboru is prompted into explaining himself by the Akodo. He really, really just wants to leave, but he hasn't quite made it out the door and so he's just going to half-turn and acknowledge them all again to prove he had been listening.
His father pushed perfection on him constantly, so much so that he could be accused of following more Shourido principles than Bushido. But try telling that to a senior Daidoji. Satoru tried to check himself there. He sighed, nodded shortly to indicate that the message was received and understood, then proceeded to leave as he intended to.

Aiko looks at the young man, "That's not what I'm concerned about, Noboru-san. I understand you aren't the one seeking out these duels, unlike that..." A pause as she considers how to politely phrase this. "That ill-advised young man whose swords the Crane still have. Not that I blame them in the least."
She gestures to a quieter area of the dojo, "So, let's move out of the way. That way we aren't going to disturb the others while they train."

Noboru simply sighs, knowing he's not getting out of this, then nods to follow Aiko-sensei wherever it is she wishes to speak if only to get this over with.

Once they are away from the others, Aiko crosses her arms, looking at the young man for a few moments before speaking, "What was it you were wishing to say, cousin, but stopped yourself from saying?"

"If I have permission to speak freely, sensei, it's your fault we're in this situation to begin with," comes an honest and sincere, if discourteous reply. "You and the one they call the Crane Thunder. After all, you were the one who declared a blood feud, hai?"

Aiko sighs, nodding, "...Yes, an action that was the result of four prideful idiots not considering the long term impacts of their actions. Because what is supposed to be something between his family line and mine apparently ends up being a thing that results in the rest of our clans being at each others throats. If...he had not pushed and I had not snapped, had he been willing to wait till we were in the capital, away from the Shadow Dragon, I have to wonder if things would be different."

"What difference does it make now?"
Noboru crosses his arms over his chest, his tone softer as he begins to walk off. "It doesn't matter, anyway. The avalanche has already started, it's too late for the pebbles to vote."
He stops then turns to bow, "Is that all you wished of me, sensei?"

"No. That is not all. I have always hated that proverb about the avalanche. Because it assumes that those involved cannot make steps to change their course," Aiko says, "Here at the school, for example. We do not have to let those conflicts outside define us, unless we bring them in with us. And I hope to the Kami that I will not be having to remind you of this in future. If you are challenged, I don't object to you defending yourself as you see fit, but do not go seeking out trouble."

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a familar face. He shown his respects to his father's comrad.
