Resolve it by reminding him of his honor, Sakura-chan. Maybe even whisper to him some little secret you know that could ruin him. After all, what good is a man's honor if we can't remind them of why they should keep it in the first place?
Ryoko looks on curiously while moving a little closer to the rest of the class. Her brown eyes flickered with curiosity, wanting to see how this role-play will go about.

"But samurai resolve their issues with words, Otomo-sensei," Isao protested. "And if words will not do, with steel under the eyes of Heaven. Doji Fuyuko-sensei forbid me from dueling another student... I... There's no reason for us to argue over this matter further. Spilling blood would be senseless."

...I do not know anyone's secrets here. Besides, I don't wish to shame him.
Sakura, for her part, looks at the man across from her for a few moments, "The Third Yasuki war was resolved with a duel of stances, Kakita-sama. And there are countless other cases where conflicts between samurai have been resolved with duels using something other than steel, yet managing to sate honor and the heaven's will."

"Well, we appear to be in agreement on how to resolve the matter," Isao stated. "But fundamentally, we disagree on the matter itself. I say there is no honor in serving a criminal lord under the eyes of Heaven; you say that in serving a criminal lord faithfully, it is the truest test of a samurai. Is this still how you feel, Mirumoto-san?"
He raised a brow and poised the question, ensuring her that they were on the same page.

"I say that the test comes in the choices we make, Kakita-sama. You speak in absolutes, while I say that there is no absolute answer, as each situation is different," Sakura replies.

"Yet a criminal is a criminal, Mirumoto-san. No matter how you word it, Heaven is absolute in the matter. The Emperor, the Son of Heaven, enforces the will of Heaven through edicts; violation of his edicts is a criminal offense. There is no honor in being a criminal or serving one," the Crane countered the Dragon.

"And yet laws change over time and what is illegal today might not be tomorrow, or what is legal today may become a crime," Sakura replies, "And what if the criminal act is under reporting a harvest that was already small, in order to ensure that you would be able to keep enough food home to feed your peasants and retainers, instead of risking starvation and famine?"

But for this little exercise, you do. You know his lord's secret and it coming to light could shame him as well. Blackmail is one of the strongest ways to ensure a samurai keeps their honor. And perhaps you could get something out of it as well, hmm?

"It doesn't matter whether a law makes a criminal act legal today, yesterday, or tomorrow; the law is about when it was committed," he continued, glancing to Otomo Katsumi. "And as far as the Empire is concerned, in the eyes of the law, it doesn't matter why the law was broken - even if the criminal may morally justify it. I won't deny that that there are shades of gray - times when there are not absolutes. However, legal matters are generally absolutes. I know this because my father is a magistrate and he enforces the law."

"Then perhaps it would be wise for you to remember one of the first lessons that a Doji magistrate learns. To temper steel with Compassion, Kakita-sama," Sakura replies.
