Kobushi nods. "You did." He takes a deep breath, returning to a neutral position. He takes another swing, and only mid-strike does he realize this is wide, wrong, and all but guaranteed to miss. orokos.com/roll/589152 10

Seijuro approaches Mirumoto Sakura, and offers the girl a respectful bow. "Well met, Mirumoto Sakura-san. I am Akodo Seijuro..." A pause, hesitant, surely not to go unnoticed. "... grandson of Akodo Kanjiro. Yoroshiku-onegaishimasu." A daughter of one of the Thunders, and the sensei of the class. An opportunity he'd not often have, even if the wild furry of the Matsu was not to be put on display here today. She'd likely have the edge. Besides, look what had happened last time he let his anger win over. He sets his bokken to neutral, and would tap the tip of hers to indicate he is ready to begin, when she was.

Okay...I didn't expect that.Getting ready for the next round, Satoru gave his partner time to prepare before they launched into their second bout. Kenjutsu R2: 5d10ro1o10k2 16It wasn't as well calibrated as it had been before, but it was just enough for a second point to be scored.

"Okay, so I'm worse at this than I thought." He steps back, tries one more time. Maybe I should just stick to using my hands. He takes a swing, trying to score at least one point. He doubts that's going to happen any time soon. orokos.com/roll/589167 17

"No it's...you're doing very well." I don't understand. He definitely looks like he has himself all together compared to someone like me. Kobushi certainly appeared more determined. Satoru was mired in doubt. He felt like most of his attacks were reactionary. Unplanned. Maybe that's the void his Iaijutsu sensei spoke of. When the final round commenced, he exhaled, found his stance, and gave it one last shot. Kenjutsu R3: 5d10ro1o10k2 19The final point goes to him as well and he can hardly believe it. He quickly bows in respect to his opponent. When he looks up again, he appears more concerned than relieved. He's been on the other side of this duel before, that same side. He hoped Kobushi did not feel half as bad as he felt that day, but he wasn't sure what he could say to make it all sting less.

Kobushi returns the bow, not at all feeling bad. Just one more thing for him to improve upon, in his mind.
"Next time, then."
He smiles.

Post by Utaku Ryouko on Jan 28, 2018 23:28:32 GMT -5
Ryouko watched the matches with unwavering interest. Her eyes flickered to Noburu after the sensei interrupted his match, thoughtful. It was obvious the guitarist was skilled, yet he looked like he couldn't care less about participating. She bristled slightly with annoyance before focusing her eyes on the other pairs. The Cranes match was over quickly, winner walking away looking confused. The Utaku watched him for a moment, studying his expression. Lack of self confidence... He wasn't bad, but he probably thought he was.
The young woman's attention returned to the front and she finally let her gaze drop on Seijuro. She studied his features, trying to catch his eyes. Trying to gauge the Lion's mood. Her grip tightened around her bokken, hand rubbing her side where the young man had broken her ribs the day before. He didn't look angry, but she didn't know him well enough yet to tell for sure. Ryouko took a breath, tensing slightly as she waited for him to face the small Dragon that had been pitted against him.

Kaizen glares at the Mirumoto boy before he puts the bokken back on the rack. He did take his seat and sat there quietly.

A Lion. Sakura could hear the yokai that had been annoying her scoff just a touch. So prideful and boastful he would never notice your sting until it's too late. Need to defeat a Lion? Study what his grandfather did.

Sakura returns the touch, trying to pay no mind to the Yokai offering her "helpful" advice on how to beat a Lion. After all, she is well aware of the Scorpion's traditional view on the Lion. And then she starts to move. ((Kenjutsu/Agi: 34))
