Sakura just smiled a little as she stood behind the smaller Dragon.
Perhaps, but I always wanted to be a star. To shine brightly for as long as possible, then either fade away or go out in a blaze of glory. Though I suppose even that would have led people to underestimate me. To fail to understand the full depth of what I was capable of and how.
There would be a pause as her eyes fell upon Aiko, memories of a time that may have been so long ago to the Dragon Thunder still seeming like yesterday to one for whom time has little meaning.
Even your mother underestimated me some, came a somewhat solemn tone.

Sheer strength meet sheer speed. Where Seijuro was strong and powerful, Isao demonstrated speed and finesse with the blade. The young Kakita smiled as he found himself evenly matched with the Lion. Their swords clacked loudly throughout the dojo as Isao used position and necessary parries to dodge the blows until he found the opportunity to strike back, moving past the Lion as he tagged him with his sword. OOC: Agility/Kenjutsu 33Seijuro was at the disadvantage now - one more tag, and Isao would advance past him. After the tag, he tried to gather his focus once more. He breathed in, seeking the path to true victory. He searched for conviction. In his quickest display of agility so far today, Seijuro channels the spirit needed to make his ancestors proud. There was a natural ebb and flow to battle and Isao pressed his advantage but it was swept away in the rhythm of combat. The Crane attempted to utilize his speed, making quick movements and search for an opening, but the Lion found some inner strength to draw on as the match had tilted in his favor. All too quickly he moved quicker than the young Kakita and he landed a solid blow readily, which caught him by surprise altogether. "Woah!" he exclaimed, grinning. Seijuro backs away from Isao to get set for what was likely the final time against him today, panting and wiping her brow with an earnest and wide smile. Something it was unlikely that many others had seen from the Akodo. "It is; it's been an honor to test my mettle against you Kakita-san," Seijuro says behind his smile, tone friendly as he prepares to recenter for the inevitable exchange of blows. "You've been an excellent opponent." Seijuro nods, and finds his center once more. Like Fuyuko had mentioned days ago though, he needed to further train his muscle endurance. The tightness in thighs caused his legs to tremble as he waited for the moment of attack, which slowed down his initial burst as he dashed towards the Kakita. One heavy blow, a horizontal arc from low to high starting at Isao's right hip, was all that would be necessary to settle the contest. One strike would decide it, but would his or Isao's be faster? Sometimes the fastest, most direct route was the surest path to victory! Bop!Before Seijuro had connected, he simply stepped forward with a loud kiah shout, a quick flick of the wrists, and tap the Lion on the head. It was obvious he pulled his blow enough as not to hurt Seijuro, but there was no denying it was decisive strike. The Crane felt the connection thereafter and there was no denying it was close; the entire match had been close. However, Isao smiled as he lowered his practice sword and bowed low to the Akodo. " You fought well, Akodo-san. I look forward to our next opportunity to cross swords," he chirped. OOC: Agility/Kenjutsu 23 |

Seijuro's wooden blade was less than an inch from Isao's ribs when he was tapped on the head, the Akodo puling the blow to a stop at the moment he was tapped. Victory had been close, and though the Kakita had won, this was beneficial enough to not truly be considered a loss by Seijuro. He smiled and offered Isao an equally low bow.
"You have surely made your ancestors proud today. I'll be waiting eagerly as well, and I won't lose next time."
