"Ugh, I barely even remember that ritual. That drunk of a Doji went over it once and then forgot..."
He scratched the back of his head, grimacing.
"...I'll try my best, though. At least most of the people I've met so far have been nice."

"Offer three times, refuse twice. And be creative about how you do both," Kobushi answers, rolling his eyes all the while. "And our best is all any of us can do. Perfection is an ideal, not a reality."
"But don't let any other Crane know I said that." He laughs.

"Three touches works fine. It wouldn't be a proper rematch otherwise, Akodo-san." Ryuha gave Akodo Ichiro a bow, trying to put her mind to the match rather than the lingering fear that would not leave her mind. Still, she managed a stance that implied she was ready when Ichiro was. This time, she made the first move, striking out at the Akodo with a bit of apprehension in her swing. When Ryuha came at him Ichiro also came at her the two briefly parried eachother's blows however it seemed the dragon couldn't keep up with Ichiro's flurry of blows. 48 (https://orokos.com/roll/590731)

Ryuha slinks away after the hit, gauging another avenue of offense. She'd sparred with Ichiro before- nothing he was doing was surprising! Yet, she cannot remain focused for the life of her - the lingering bit of fear and doubt persisted in her mind, weighing on her form. (27 again - orokos.com/roll/590846)

Ichiro was spurred on by the first hit but remembered what had happened last time. So he never let up on Ryuha. Ichiro's style wasn't complex or subtle. Ichiro specialized in all out speed by the time the clack is heard from his bokken hitting his opponent's his next strike is already halfway through. Ryuha was fast and well trained but after enough blows one managed to sneak past her defense a solid contact in her shoulder. He resets and prepares for their next set of blows. 32 orokos.com/roll/590847

Yeah, it would be obvious to Ichiro that this was not the same Ryuha he had faced yesterday in class. Her defense is sloppy for her normal standards, the blows slow and predictable. Her attention seems somewhere else, eyes constantly moving away from ichiro's center to the other pair across the room. (17 - orokos.com/roll/590873)

Ichiro easily deflects Ryuha's attacks and almost casually taps her for the third point. He looks at her with mirth in his eyes "I hope you weren't taking it easy on my Mirumoto-san, that was not the same fighter from kenjutsu class yesterday."

Ryuha seems flustered and frustrated with herself both.
"No, Akodo-san, I was not taking it easy on you. Perhaps I was just lucky yesterday."

Kobushi also takes notice, having seen more of what Ryuha is capable of than the other two. He is sure now something is bothering her. But he also decides not to interrupt. If she wanted him to know, she'd tell him.
Right?
