It is easy to mistake Reiha's shyness and anxieties for cowardice, and yes, when it concerns social interaction and facing up to her mother she is indeed ruled by fear. But letting someone just walk in and deliberately snub her Clan? That is not something she can ignore! So as Mirumoto Noboru starts to walk out she blocks his way. "Excuse me, Mirumoto-san." Her tone is soft and meek, and she doesn't quite meet her eyes, but he won't be able to leave unless he shoves her aside. "I... I could not help but notice you forgot to honor a banner. There are students here from all over Rokugan, and we have all payed our respects. I am sure it is just an oversight and not a deliberate insult, yes?"

Rodrigo blinked at Noboru as he ignored the Crane banner. He might not know much about Rokugani culture, but he recognized an insult when he saw one. He and Isao had bowed to each banner, what other reason could there be to ignore one?
So it was that he joined Reiha in blocking the way, looking at Noboru skeptically.
"What she said. I can't imagine why someone would want to disrespect the people who advanced the art."

Fuyuko holds out her hand, approaching the two. "Doji-san. Rodrigo-san. This one thanks you for your defense of my clan and my art. She has spoken to Mirumoto-san regarding this matter, heard his reasons for his choice, and has accepted that this insult bears on his honor, not ours. It is his choice and she will respect it, though she has let him know her thoughts and feelings on the matter she will not see more feuds begin under her watch." She says shooting Noboru a disapointed and hurt glance, trying to disarm the fight.

Isao beamed under his Sensei's acknowledgment and stepped aside so others could participate as well. However, afterwards he looked up and witnessed the Dragon deliberately insult his clan. Again. However, Fuyuku had forbid him from dueling. He frowned and instead of stepping up to Noburu, the young Crane looked to his elder Doji Fuyuko for guidance. How were they going to get the kid to act appropriately? He couldn't even follow Fuyuko's simple rules. He then watched as she attempted to dismantle the situation. With a sigh, Isao shook his head and rubbed his temples. He almost felt like their Sensei was unwilling to assert her authority and allow him to do whatever he wanted.

Rodrigo set his jaw, looking Noburu in the eye for a moment...then sighed, stepping aside. It would not do to disobey the orders of a teacher.

Noboru stopped to look at both Reiha and the Merenae student that was unfamiliar to him. He'd remembered Reiha from the musical chairs exercise a few days earlier. Then his eyes flit over to Isao as he sighed. If all of them looked carefully they could see the fires smouldering within the eyes of the older Mirumoto student. There was a grunt of frustration before he finally bowed, if you could even call the small amount he moved a bow, to the Crane banner before heading off to one of the sparring robots.

"Thank you, Mirumoto-san", she mutters and bows, giving him a gentle smile and looking more than a little relieved.
Looking as if nothing whatsoever has happened, or at least, trying to, she makes her way back to the group, her heart racing like an Utaku steed.

Fuyuko however glares and marches over to the boy, putting up her hand to stop him from leaving. "This one understands you were trying to avoid a fight, as she asked. This one understands your reasons so she will assume what she saw was an act of inadvisable courtesy rather then an act of baldfaced dishonesty and insincerity. She hopes you do not prove this assumption correct." she says, her anger cold and frozen. "The only thing worse then an honest insult is insincere respect. This one respects your feelings, she has told you what she thinks and though she thinks your path will lead to blood, you are her student and she cares for all her students. But do not try her temper." she says her voice going deathly quiet. "I am a Doji."

Sakura, having focused more on kenjutsu and taijutsu over iaijutsu, goes through the test. She strikes the first and second balloons accurately, if somewhat clumsily, and completely missed the third. She blushes and goes through the proper bows, moving off to the side. She is very much not going to be captain, it seems. ((Iai/Reflexes: 10, 17, 7

To Fuyuko's small speech Noboru sounded out simply: "I know and that's why I hate you. And her." He nodded to Reiha. "And him." A nod to Isao.
His tone was even despite the fires rumbling in his undertones and the anger that started to burn within his eyes. "I gave your clan all the respect I'm willing to give it in that bow. If I'd been dishonest I would have bowed almost as deeply as I would have my own clan. When Mirumoto Okoro's daisho is returned, I'll consider bowing a little deeper."
