Nadeshiko had spent all day at her booth and putting out small various fires... thankfully the running around had been useful as she'd picked up an interesting rumour for her investigations. It seems an Ancestor Spirit had been luring local children into the woods to eat them, probably sharing them with that Croquette Oni people were whispering about. She had even texted her sidekick Bayushi Nomen to join her. So the Unicorn waited, dressed in a heavy coat to ward off the chill of the forest and carrying several flashlights and replacement batteries just in case. Still she shivered as the moon peeked down from above the treetop canvas, clouds occasionally blocking out the light and leaving everything pitch black for a few moments at a time. The wind whistled through the trees and the sounds of nocturnal insects buzzed up between the silences. It was so very creepy and Nade was so very on edge. |

And of course, when you are on edge the last person you invite is the quietest girl in school. Right?
Nomen moves quickly, quietly. She dodges twigs and leaves, approaching where she could see the little Unicorn girl, and quietly got closer, almost behind her before she finally made a noise by speaking.
"Boo."

Nade jumped out of her skin, squealing loudly into the air as Nomen yet again snuck up on her. She mutters sharply under her breath as she stumbles forward a few steps and turns around to face Nomen properly.
"please stop doing that, you're going to.. you're going to give me a heart attack and then we'll both be screwed."
She sucks in a deep breath then, waiting for Nomen to drift close before whapping her lightly on the shoulder as punishment.
"Well, I'm glad you're here. Are you warm enough? we're going after a Gujo Ancestor Spirit... apparently it wants to eat kids? ... I was thinking we could use me as bait since I'm so adorable and childlike in everyway.. right?"

Nomen accepted the shoulder whap, a grin on your face. "Sorry, couldn't resist, forgive me?" she went silent to listen to the plan, nodding at the warmth comment.
"Ah, interesting. Well, if the spirit asks I can tell it that you taste good at least. You're very adorable, but I can certainly confirm you're not childlike in some ways Nade-nyan" she winked "so you want me to hang back and watch out while you try to lure it out...then what? Protect you while you banish it, I assume?"

"Well I did some investigating into the woods, allll sorts of spooky rumours and stuff you know. It turns out that the ghost we're looking for seems to center in a specific area about a kilometer in. That's where all the spookiness concentrates. So the plan is to hike out there, I'll change into some clothes I brought and then I'll pretend to be all lost and alone and shivering to see if the monster strikes... then we kill it!"
Nade however doesn't seem as enthused with her plan as she should be, the nervousness dripping on her words as she hands over a heavy duty flashlight and starts to stomp into the woods following a compass.
"Please stay close Nomen... I .. I don't want to lose you out here because uhh what kind of detective would I be without my sidekick. I'd just be nothing. Hahaha, yeah, that's it. Need my sidekick."
Oh god the woods are scary at night.

Nomen listened, and nodded. She didn't want to tease the girl this time, a rarity for her, as she could see how scared Nade was. "I believe in you, flower detective. That's why I'm your sidekick! We'll kick the spirits butt, and make it home for some nice hot chocolate!"
She then moved closer, pulling Nadeshiko to her.
"And then maybe I'll eat you instead" she grinned, moving down to kiss the girl on the lips. Deeply, holding onto her while she did so.

Nade squeaked... but melted into the kiss, eyes fluttering closed as she practically lets it linger for several long moments. Eventually it has to break though, leaving her to pull back and lick her lips clean.
"Now now Nomen, Sidekicks must remain much more professional, there is very little kissing on a normal job... even if it is really nice"
Her spirit strengthened, she started to walk deeper into the forest, letting her flashlight lead the way.
"I wonder what other monsters are out here, maybe we can get a two for one"

Nomen just watched the girl walking on, seeing the confidence in her strides, following on quietly. It was her natural state of being after all.
"Maybe ninjas?" she replied with a chuckle, looking around as she followed.

"Oh Nomen you silly thing, there's no such thing as Ninjas" she laughs out... though it was a bit forced as Nade started to glance up at the branches and leaves of the trees as they walked past them, searching for the invisible ninjas that she totally didn't believe were there.
Eventually they reached a clearing where the moonlight streamed down upon a small field of flowers. Nade paused to glance down at her notebook before motioning to Nomen to stop and hide in the trees just out of sight.
"We're here... I'm going to, I'm going to go lure this thing out and then try to subdue it. If you see me in trouble yell a lot to distract it or something. You're very good at making lots of large scary noises, especially in bathrooms~"

The only ninja was in fact behind her...but Nade didn't know that. Nomen ducked behind a tree, peeking round at Nade and nodding.
"I got your back, flower detective."
...plus she kind of wanted to watch the girl change. Nomen never claimed to have any honour after all.
