"Ideally... our mutual benefit," he tells her, his smile optimistic as ever while he fights a tinge of sadness away from his eyes. "Otherwise, for yours, of course. There's no benefit to me alone in you gaining your freedom; either you're happy... with me or without me... but you deserve the chance to find it on your own, regardless." He looks down again, the thought of losing her to someone else not sitting easily, so he distracts himself with also digging into his own pocket, enjoying the vegetables and tasty crust.

"Perhaps I will," Tsuki replied, her own warm smile growing a bit from his words. She enjoyed the sentiment of her own desires being placed at the fore front. She cut into her crab pocket once more, thoughts bubbling up in her mind. She looked up to Yoshi who's gaze was on his plate.
"Do you think I am caged, Yoshi-san? At least when it come to marriage?" She asks, her smile belying the intent of the question.

"I'm... not sure I get what you're asking," he admits, looking up at her with a frown as he chews thoughtfully. He had caught her first statement, but the question afterward seemed not to follow upon that thought, so he focuses mostly on answering the latter.
"I suppose...," he begins, "after we spoke at the party, I would have answered "yes"? However, since you clarified matters on the phone two days ago, my new grasp of the situation is that both you and your sister are in... "cages", of a sort... but only one of their doors will actually be shut, and you... don't yet know which." He shakes his head.
"I'm sorry if I'm still misunderstanding things," he tells her, shrugging helplessly.

"I am free to do as I like. When you say that I gain my freedom, it implies I don't have it," She offered up an explanation to Yoshi, "I don't feel the same way I guess. So I wanted to know what you thought on it."
There was no follow up after that and Tsuki opted to just return to her own meal.

"Well...," Yoshi starts. He always feels a bit thrown when he and Tsuki aren't in complete agreement about something, presuming it's some sort of miscommunication on his part. "I only meant you weren't free specifically to choose if you were going to eventually be bound to this impending betrothal or not, and that I felt you should be. What freedom in relation to that can you even have? Or were you referring to something else?" He searches her expression for whatever answers her words didn't bring, forgetting his own meal for a time as he does.

"Ah, I see. Well that would ultimately be out of my hands, but I am not without recourse. Though I have my own personal desire, it doesn't mean I am locked to it. Those are simply my choices. Even then, were my husband to be a poor match, or something extreme to affect the individual, that would be grounds to look over or even void the betrothal," She answered, trying to better explain to Yoshi what she meant.
"Even then, there is also another criteria to be met. I have choices on this, more freedom than it appears, but at the end of the day you would be right. I lack the full on choice to marry the man or not. But that is what betrothals are about," She added on. It was the best she felt she could explain it to him, and it was her hope he could understand her views on it. Perspective was everything after all.

"I see," Yoshi says with a nod. He returns to his meal with his hopes somewhat dashed, of a new revelation coming along the lines of the one from the phone call, bringing forth new hope and new possibility. Not yet willing to let go of that notion, he looks up at her and says carefully, "You did say... you'd met the man. Would I be... overstepping... to ask if you have any inkling how good... or poor... a match he might make?"

She shook her head, a silent answer to his question of overstepping, made more clear by her words. "I don't mind. I would ultimately like to say it is a really good match, but he seemed more neutral to it all. Things have changed, I suppose. I don't know how much you want to know, but considering his own words, I am free to share everything."
She seemed to frown just slightly. It was a tad awkward to speak so freely and just dump so much on Yoshi, but she couldn't think of a way to properly say more without doing so. An question seemed to be the right thing to do.

"I want to know... everything I can," he answers simply. If there was some solution to the puzzle of how Tsuki could find happiness... with him, preferably... he wanted every bit of information he could have to help her achieve that. He already considers the other man's ambivalence to a potential marriage with someone so special as her a strike against the union, perhaps a little selfishly ignoring Tsuki's words about the match being good. Still, he felt he had to learn more before he could know how to proceed.

"Alright. Well, I guess the question is where to start?" She looked to Yoshi, but the question wasn't seeking an answer. She took a breath and tired her best to explain what she could in parts. It seemed the best way to do this.
"Do you remember when I told you about who I am to marry? There are actually two possibilities, but I had originally thought one of them was an impossibility. Until they ended up telling me they were in fact the son of Akodo Arasou-Shiryo, the Lion thunder. I would have been suspicious, perhaps even dismissive, but they carry the daisho of the man. They are also a good friend of mine, one whom I've known for a while now. So now the man I thought it was possible for me to marry has now switched to a man I know well. It's nice to know them already on a personal level, but I don't think he's certain about all of this."
She explained as best as she could, realizing that there was a better way to likely say it, but how does one cleanly and smoothly explain that a dead thunder actually had a son? More over explain that he can prove it, has backing, and was now looking at the possibility of a marriage he knew little about?
