"So... a secret parentage and a newly discovered heir... a friend of yours," Yoshi recaps slowly. He gives her a bittersweet smile. "That's... good, I suppose... if it comes to down to it; I know what can grow from friendship." The look that accompanies those words speaks volumes of the emotions welling inside him. Still, it's fleeting as he turns his heart away and his mind back to the problem at hand.
"Would that preclude arguing it as a poor match, though?" he asks, picking away at his meal. "I can't help but wonder... would it... not matter... if you found a better one?" Yoshi was disinclined to think that he was better than anyone, quite the contrary in most cases. However, he did feel that no one was a better match for him than Tsuki, and he wondered... hoped... that she might eventually come to feel the same in return, if she didn't already.

"It certainly makes it hard. It helps that knowing the man for some time has allowed me to see them in a more personal light. To say the least, we likely wouldn't be friends if I thought poorly of him. Not that it's impossible to say it's a poor match, but it would simply seem so out of character for him to act in such a deplorable way that would leave me to believe as such," She looked to Yoshi, trying her best to read his own emotions. She was unsure if he felt hurt, or frustrated, but she had no desire to hurt him with this information.
"I can't say if a better one shows up or not. You are the first man I've accepted to go out and effectively try a date with, and we've only known each other for seven days. There's a lot to learn about one another still, when it comes to us. Others could be even longer. But if one did show up? I don't know what I would do," She answered as sincerely as she could.

She was unsure if he felt hurt, or frustrated, but she had no desire to hurt him with this information. "Don't misunderstand; I'm glad he's not... awful," Yoshi clarifies, "because, as uncertain as everything about this is, I would imagine being able to get out of it on those grounds isn't any more certain." Of course it hurts to think there are no easy answers, but he wouldn't wish for there to be a risk she'd be bound to a monster, just because that circumstance might give her a slightly greater chance of being able to escape it. "There's... really not too much more to learn about me," Yoshi tells her, shrugging a bit helplessly. Smiling, he tells her, "I'm not allergic to flowers, and I think I have a good enough head to help mind a shop."

"I disagree. There's a lot more to learn about you. Like your goals and aspirations, your doubts, who your family is, do you have a preference for certain meals, your beliefs and approach to them. Then there are the smaller little things, like our habits and ticks, which there are too many to name," She rattled off a few more, as if running down a grocery list.
"I don't even know what you do in your free time when not praying, at classes, or after school activities," She added on, "So yes, there is more to learn. At least in my eyes, anyway. Perhaps we don't see it the same way."

"No... no, we do," Yoshi corrects her. "I definitely want to learn all of that about you, Tsuki-san. I just... I guess I'm not used to anyone taking as much of an interest in me, so... it's hard to think that anything about me is interesting." He smiles in apology and picks at his food a bit more, though the pocket is nearly gone.
"We already talked about my goals... or lack of any, beyond getting married one day," he says, forgiving her perhaps forgetting since she seemed on the verge of sleep for most of that long phone call. "And... like I said when we were ordering, I'm not really a picky eater. I... guess I like to read a lot... not much else. I meditate in my free time too, when I can." It was clearly difficult for him to think about himself, especially if looking for points that he thought others might consider intriguing or appealing.
"What about you?" he asks generally, always one to find her both of those things.

"I remember. I was simply giving a list of examples," She corrected him, lest he believe she would forget their in depth conversation on such matters, both old and immensely recent. "But it is nice to know that we share that similar view," She added with a gentle smile.
Like his plate, she had quietly pecked away at her meal, in between sharing words with Yoshi and the silent, unseen moments of their conversation. Her drink was likewise nearly gone, the few cubes of ice breaching the surface of the liquid within like miniature icebergs found at sea. She opted to finish off the latter, using that time to mentally prep a list for Yoshi's question.
"Well, my love for flowers is no secret, but I also like video games and silly monster movies, like the kaiju series. Do you ever play games or watch those kind of things?" She asked.

"I like... watching people play video games," Yoshi says, feeling both closer to and further from Tsuki, as she detailed her very down-to-earth interests while at the same time knowing he didn't much share them. "I didn't have a home console of my own, but some of the shugenja kids my parents forced me to try being friends with did, and I enjoyed those games... even if I didn't get to take a turn much." He half-shrugs.
"Kaiju movies are fun, but... they're not my favorite," he continues. "I kind of like old horror movies. They used to scare me a lot as a little kid, but now they're just kind of silly too."

Tsuki listened in as he explained, and while it was clear their connection of games was small, the movies were built of sturdier things. "Oh? Do you like to watch a lot more of the B-movies, or the ones that try to take themselves seriously? Because honestly, I enjoy both types. They can be just as corny as some of kaiju movies I like to watch. It's even better when they think they are being scary," She laughed, hand coming to cover her mouth.

"Mostly the B-ones," Yoshi answers. "The serious ones these days just... don't seem to be trying that hard, or maybe I'm desensitized at this point? The classic ones were pretty much all B-quality, whether they were campy or serious, but even the campy ones were scary to me back when I was growing up." He chuckles.
"I probably watched... a lot of stuff that I shouldn't have until I was older," he tells her. "But... my parents didn't really care what was on TV, as long as it kept me quiet."

"I never got to watch a lot of TV. My parents were often doing other things, and I guess we picked up on that. Plus, father often took us to train whenever we had free time, and that was more so the same for me with my mom. When Tetsuko-san came to visit though, that's when we tended to play games and the like. Mom and dad were oddly fond of them. Especially mom." She laughed a little laugh.
"It wasn't until later, when I was older, that Tetsuko-san introduced me to some of stuff I like now. I try to sneak in a movie here or there when free time permits. Do you still try and watch those campy movies nowadays?"
