So, the day had finally come; Tamori Yoshi was going on his very first official date! First, he had met Kakita Tsuki at the Campus Temples after school as always, however after offering their prayers, they made haste to the bus stop next to the dorms. The ride was relatively short, but also full of nervous silence as he weathered the surreal feeling of being with her in this new and different contex. Throughout, he only managed smiles and glances, with the occasional forgettable remark about the weather or scenery. When it came to their stop in the city, Yoshi lead them down a block or so to a small restaurant that appeared to be overwhelmed by signage from the adjacent competitors. It was a very modest enclosure that smelled of fried fish and vegetables. The staff was composed of one chef cooking up a storm on a hot flat-top, the sizzling surface covered in a scattered assortment of squid and chopped peppers. Some corn tortillas... or not quite tortillas, they were being set aside on a plate to cool and press. The 'pockets' Yoshi spoke of were definitely foreign in concept. They looked like pastries, but instead of sweet, they were all savory. "Here we are," he tells her. There were a few tables, none of them occupied. The chef seemed to be too busy to notice them yet, possibly filling an order for someone who's coming to pick up later. At one of the tables near the counter, Yoshi pulls out a chair for Tsuki to seat herself in before he takes his own.

The prayers had gone well enough and though she enjoyed them ever so much, she had kept it short for the sake of Yoshi. To be fair, she was also a little eager to see just where he had planned on taking her. Trying out new things was always fun, and plus it meant she got to tell Tetsuko. A part of her like to think they were always trying to find new foods to eat just to one up one another.
The trip was quick enough, but small talk about scenery and weather was hard to keep anyone's attention. Watching it, however, was rather nice. Per his words from the day before, Tsuki had worn something easy and nice. A simple spring dress of greens and blues that bore the pattern of flowers in bloom. An easy decision considering how humid the day had been.
"Thank you," She replied as she took the seat and settled down at the table, "Have you been here before, Yoshi-san?"

“Only once,” Yoshi answers, sitting down across from her. “I learned about this place when a Third Year Scorpion student brought me here for dinner a few nights ago. I think she was... trying to be nice to new students. Sort of like an outreach?” He remembers the melancholy mystery that was Bayushi Chiyo and his complete inability to fathom the source of her interest in him.
“It definitely wasn’t a date,” he clarifies hurriedly, followed by a anxious laugh. As it trails off, he grows quiet, looking down at his closed menu and adding sheepishly, “I’ve... never actually been on one before.” He stares at the menu a little longer before realizing he actually has to open it to read it. Still, despite all his nervousness, his smile at the simple pleasure of being here with her never fades.

"Oh?" She gave him a small look of curiosity and playfulness but deigned to not follow up, unless opening the menu counted. Her eyes were quick to move over every entry on the possible two or three pages likely within. It never lingered though, and a perceptive eye might note she was less reading and more skimming.
"Hmmm, well, since you had the pleasure of being here before, would you recommend anything? Is there perhaps a good starting meal to choose from here?" Her eyes glanced up from the printed fonts of the lamented paper to the Dragon across from her.

"I actually just picked the absolute cheapest thing because... I had recently spent a lot of money on incense," Yoshi admits with a mixture of embarrassment and humor. "It was the vegetarian pocket, and it was really good. Bayushi-sama ended up paying for both of us afterward anyway, though." He gives a small chuckle at the irony of that but then appears worried that some clarification is in order.
"Oh, but please order whatever looks good to you; don't worry about the price," he insists. He'd been at school a full week now, so his account was due for a parental refilling. He was also certain that etiquette demanded he pay for everything, as the one who had invited her to the date.
"Um... sorry... for talking so much about money," he says quietly, wondering if his greatest achievement on this outing might be breaking a record for ruining a date in the fastest time. At the very least, he was pretty sure that the fact he'd never been on one before now went without saying, even though he already told her. "The... crab pocket looks good too." Decent recovery? He hopes.

"Yes, I did notice you had chosen something rather expensive," Tsuki noted on the line of incense, "You really didn't have to do that you know. Just something that would fit your tastes would have been okay. If I had know you were going to do that after the gift, I would have tried and stop you," She let out a small giggle at this.
On the topic of money, she just smiled and waved away his apology. "Think nothing of it. My parents both think it's something to be very aware of. It's why I am able to have the things I have after all, though they keep a limit on what I can actually get. A lesson as they put it. However, I think I can splurge today with you and get that crab pocket, because I agree. It does look good." She said with a warm smile.

Just something that would fit your tastes would have been okay. If I had know you were going to do that after the gift, I would have tried and stop you," She let out a small giggle at this. "I promised the best, and I keep my promises," he says plainly, smiling along with her giggle. Playfully, but with a slightly serious undertone, he adds, "I... wouldn't have let you stop me." On the topic of money, she just smiled and waved away his apology. "Oh... I... guess I'll probably have the vegetarian again," he says, feeling a bit thrown by Tsuki's intent to pay for herself. "I'm not picky about what I eat, but... I generally stick with what I know I like." He looks at the woman across from him, knowing these last words could well describe his habit of showing up at the Temples after school so many days in a row. Just then, a shout peeled from behind the grill, "Aimi-san! We have customers!" A young woman came out from the back with pen and ticket. She bowed to the two at the table, introduced herself as their waitress, and awaited the contents of the order. "I'll have the vegetarian pocket, and the lady will have the crab pocket," he orders for them both, as he'd seen done in many a date movie in the past. "Water to drink for me...." He then looks to Tsuki with apology for not knowing her beverage choice ahead of time.

"Oolong tea is fine, otherwise water," Tsuki answered to the waitress.
Her attention shifted back to Yoshi as she leaned forward in her seat. "So are you a vegetarian, Yoshi-san, or is this just what you like from here?" She asked in genuine curiosity, unsure if he had ever mentioned such a thing about himself. In fact, his line seemed to imply he wasn't, but she rather get a direct answer over an educated guess.

"Oh, no," he answers. "I'm not really picky about what I eat in general; I just try to make choices that are healthy." He gives the waitress both their menus and nods to her in thanks as she leaves to put in their orders.
"Speaking of food," he continues, "...I meant to ask earlier... how was your lunch yesterday?" He gives her a grin both knowing and apologetic, the latter because he hoped that Isao hadn't made her too uncomfortable with questions about him.

"It was pleasant and enjoyable," Tsuki answered, continuing the conversation along, "We ended up going to a small ramen shop. It had wonderful foood, and what I can describe only as a delectable Tonkatsu. I could eat that every day honestly."
She smiled at Yoshi, and moved to the heart of his question. "Isao certainly wanted an answer to bring back to you though. It was very nice of him to play go between and act as a buffer. I think I might have depressed him a bit when I made him aware of knowing partly what he had planned to talk about that day. I suppose he wanted to really play his part."
