"Well, I wouldn't wish an unwanted marriage upon anyone," he says, not for the first time, "but if she felt the same way as you do...." He shrugs.
"You know," he tells her, "to hear you so graciously accept the duty your parents have put to you, and to aspire to something greater than your own happiness... it both breaks my heart and places you more deeply in it." He shakes his head at the duality before looking up at her.
"Also... the fact that you like video games and monster movies is pretty hot," he adds with a grin. If the proper Crane woman could slip the word "cool" into their conversation, then he felt likewise able to use a bit of slang to compliment her.

All of what he said was nice but calling her interests hot? That brought a small flush of red to the woman's normally ivory cheeks. She quickly cooled off though and let out a small laugh, "I don't think I have ever had someone say my interests are pretty hot, but I won't lie and say that it wasn't nice to hear."

"I... just can't believe I'm the first person to say something like that, let alone ask you out," Yoshi says, shaking his head in disbelief. He looks at Tsuki, smiling warmly and asking, "How did someone as special as you get overlooked by all the outgoing, forward people who populate this school... and how did I get so lucky?" At this point, someone who may have been standing there for a while clears her throat.
"Can I get you two anything else?" the waitress asks, trying not to look impatient at their empty plates and glasses while politely ignoring the blatant hand-holding.

"I don't know," Tsuki wholeheartedly admitted, "But I don't honestly mind that they never did. Not since I got to meet you."
The waitresses sudden arrival caused Tsuki to only look up and shake her head. "No, I think I am fine right now. What about you Yoshi-san?"

"I'm... better than fine...," he replies, not taking his eyes off Tsuki. Only after another moment does he actually seem to realize the waitress is even there, looking up at her with embarrassment. "Oh... um... right, no. I'm... good. I think we're done, thank you." The waitress nods and, before leaving, places their bill on the table. Yoshi ignores it for a time, until he reluctantly releases Tsuki's hand, because he has to in order to take it.
"I know earlier you said you were splurging," he tells her, "but I'm the one who asked you out, so I have to insist that I pay... please. I want to do my first date... our first date... the right way." With a smile, he rises and bows to her, then goes to head to the cash register at the counter.

"I don't mind, a date doesn't need to be paid only... by... the asker..." She trailed off as he rose, bowed, and then headed for the cashier. Honestly, she would have gladly split or paid her share. He didn't have to do something like that, especially when she knew that he likely had no where near the money she did. That said it didn't mean he didn't earn some points for it and another smile.

“They’re not really hurting for space,” Yoshi says as he returns from paying, looking around the mostly-empty diner. “We could stay here and talk a little longer, if you want. Although... since this has all been so nice, just being here with you... I’ll probably be less nervous... and more conversational... on the bus ride back than I was coming over.” In either case, he doesn’t want their date to be over yet, not by a long shot.

Tsuki shook her head as she rose to her feet and slipped out from her spot at the table. "I think we can start heading back out. I want to see if you are actually more conversational on that bus ride," She teased him gently before letting out a small laugh.

"I will be," he replies, "but... fair warning... it might just be more talk about marriage... and how attractive I find you because of your interests." He shrugs innocently.
"I... tend go with what I'm used to... and what works," he explains, grinning afterward. It was maybe a halfway decent jest for a change, but it was also true. Perhaps that's what made it good. He hurries ahead to hold the door open for Tsuki as they leave the diner, taking a short walk up the block, where the stop was located, to wait for the bus.
"It shouldn't be too long," he reassures her, checking the time on his tiny phone. He's about to strike the conversation up anew with actual topics, rather than the ones he joked about, but when he looks over at Tsuki, seeing her blue eyes shining back at him... all he can think about is marriage and how attractive he finds her.
"What did... you want to talk about?" he tries instead, smiling apologetically.

Her attention was solely for him as he answered back to her gentle teasing with innocent honesty. With a thanks for holding open the door, she moved to his side as they started the walk back to the bus stop. His question on topic actually brought up a blank for the woman, at least initially. It had been an unexpected twist for her, but that didn't mean she didn't have something to speak on.
"Well, I have been reading some books in my spare time. Do you like to read, and if so, any preferred genres?" She ponders, keen on hearing his answer.
