Tsuki nodded to Yoshinobu. "She very much was and still is. Though she takes on the school of a shugenja, my mother has always been one to take a hands on approach." She smiled lightly at her own pun.
"Of course, she has taught me some of those skills though I am free to pursue as I see fit."

"I'd never dare to stand in your way then, Lady Kakita," Yoshinobu responded with a nervous smile. After another few moments, the duo find their way to Asahina-sensei's room. The Prince slides the door open, and stands aside for Tsuki to enter.
"I'm curious if the same volume on hanakotoba is still here."

At the young prince's showing of soft, brittle laugh, Tsuki let out her own giggle beneath the cover of her hand. She nodded her head in earnest respect the the young man's gesture and stepped into the room before the Yoshinobu, stepping to the side so she might close the door for him once he had entered.
"Are you a fan of such teachings, my prince?" She said in amused curiosity.

"I do find them beautiful, and have delighted in trying to find the hidden meanings behind the puzzle of an anonymous letter. The Princess is quite fond of these games as well; I would not leave her disappointed next time she writes to me."
Yoshinobu steps over towards the bookcase, and removes the familiar tome. "And what of yourself? Do you have a favorite flower, or perhaps a favorite letter from some young and impressionable suitor?" he teases with a sly grin.

Tsuki shot Yoshinobu an amused look as she closed the door. "I favor all the letters I have received, but that might be because of how few I have garnered. The flower is far easier. I adore the hibiscus. It is not only so wonderfully beautiful in color but shape as well."
She stepped over to the prince and peered at the book grasped within his fingers. her lips were curved upwards, a look of serenity upon her features as she stared at the cover of a book she too was likely fond of. "I have a small inkling that you likely have many letters yourself, but what about a flower? What is your favorite?"

Yoshinobu listens with a nod, setting the book down on a desk so he and Tsuki can both see the pages. He thumbs his way through it, finally finding the page for the hibiscus.
"Ah, I see. Gentleness. I would certainly say that the hibiscus fits you, Lady Kakita, in all manners." He allows himself another wide smile, flipping through a few more pages. "I receive many letters, many that I feel I am unworthy of responding to. At least as of now."
"My sister teases me about the Morning Glory. Willful promises," Yoshinobu says, almost huffing out the meaning with a pout. "Her jests are far from the mark, so less effective. I'm fond of the sumire."
Yoshinobu opens the page to display violets in various arrangements. "Notice how boldly it displays its purple petals. They reach out, as if embracing the world, welcoming the blessings of the Jade Sun. Could there be a more honest flower?"

Tsuki nods at the prince as he in turn speaks, smiling at the compliment laid upon her by the Prince. It stays as long as it needs to before slowly shifting into a small grin as the Prince promptly protests his sisters teasing of flowers and their connections to the young man. It fades as he asks the question, rhetorical in nature, but one she answered all the same. "I cannot say I know any more flower as open and truthful as it. You have a wonderful taste, Prince Iweko. I would like to think we would all follow it's example in meaning."
The woman's blue eyes trailed up the pages of the paper and along the arm that held the book open, falling upon the man whom she had been speaking to. There was a moment where she glanced back down, as if there had been a doubt, but her voice was strong and confident when words spilled from her lips.
"Iweko Yoshinobu-sama, if you would like, perhaps we could send our own little arrangement of flowers to one another. This way we could practice at Hanakotoba and better grow ourselves. It might even be a way to show the princess how far you've come, and even out do her."

Yoshinobu's dark, grey eyes seem to sparkle at the thought of the challenge. Practice was the only way to overcome the most dire of opponents. Kazuko was certainly that when it came to these courtly games of cat and mouse.
"Outdo the Princess? Why, say no more. The look of surprise on her face that I can see in my mind's eye is likely only half as priceless as the true visage that will mark her defeat." Any doubt in Tsuki's voice was either not noticed, or politely overlooked by Yoshinobu. "This should not only be that, but let us also make this a contest between ourselves. A test of wit. You have me intrigued, Kakita Tsuki-san. Expect your first letter soon."

Tsuki almost seemed to beam at the prince as he gladly and rather quickly latched onto the idea. She had yet to find anyone whom shared not only her passion for Ikebana and Hanakotoba, but her desire to excel in it.
"Then I shall gladly await your letter, Prince Iweko. Let me warn you though," Tsuki's demeanor bore a sudden poise to it, eyes willful and determined.
"Though you may be our empire's prince, I will not hold back. I will use every bit of my talents to succeed in this contest of ours."

"You are a true samurai, and very much your father's daughter, Lady Kakita. Then I will not hold back as well!"
As if to punctuate the proclamation, Yoshinobu quickly clasped the book shut with a nice, echoing thud.
