Slow reaction time? Or just unexpected?
Either way, Kobushi doesn't dwell too long on it. The jab is light, but his training means it'll sting more than it should. He follows it up with another, still aiming for the same area. He overextends just a bit, leaving him more open than is healthy. Only too late does he realize this, and he wonders what the Herald has in store for the error.

The pain wakes Asurito up for good. She raises her fists in front of her face trying to evade any future jabs. Then she sees the opening in the boy's defence. She could go for that, but she has to make sure that he gives him a chance to win, as well, and offer a fair fight at the same time. He said that he was more of a boxer, so the herald doesn't take advantage of the opening in order to attempt to grapple the Daidoji, but attempts to bring some jabs on him and his uncovered side for now.

The hits are good. Kobushi clearly didn't notice the opening. He takes them and his body's angle changes from the impact. Muscle and natural stamina help him weather through the attacks better, though. He's smiling, like he's glad for the challenge. The clean hits keep him from pressing his advantage too far, and he keeps his guard up as he pulls back half a step.
Then, a sudden lunge into a right hook. Or is it a feint and he intends to go with an uppercut with his left? Hard to tell from his posture. But the Herald should be able to see those are the only options.

Damn the Crane and their left handed spawns! Asurito instinctively raises her arms up in a defensive posture to cover as much of her upper body as she can. She is wishing that it will be enough of a protection whichever choice the Daidoji ends up with.

The Herald gets her hands up in time, making sure the right hook doesn't end up in her face. The force of the blow is hard, the impact great. When he said he was more of a boxer, this is what he meant. If he could land a hit, he could make it hurt.
He doesn't let up. Pragmatist doctrine focused on wearing down an opponent, breaking apart defenses. So with his left, he moved to deliver another hook. But his right hand isn't quite in the right position, leaving his face and upper body open.

The girl is in a very bad position. She has to either attack now or concede within the next few seconds. Not that she won't be forced to admit defeat soon even if she manages some hits. Kobushi's jabs may not be the best calculated ones, but even with the protective equipment they hurt as hell.
She tries to focus her mind and manages to see the opening. Her jab lands, but it is powerless since she is close to feeling exhausted.

The Crane readies himself, set to deliver another hard hit. Then the Miya exploits the opening.
The hit is clean. There's not a lot of power, but enough. Asurito's hit made his defensive instincts kick in and he pulls his guard back to defend himself from whatever she has in store next.

One or two hits with mediocre, at best, strength and a few too girlish follow, before Asurito stops and laughs.
"You exhausted me, Daidoji san. It would be a fool's errand if I kept going." She admits after a few breaths. "I bow to your superior power and technique." And the herald does so.

Kobushi bows too.
"You're a lot faster than I am, and your skills on the ground are better developed than mine," he says, stating the truth. "I hope I wasn't too bad."

"Are you kidding me? You were awesome!" She exclaims. "Where did you learn to fight like that?"
