"The Hida Pragmatists," he answers. A school focused entirely on unarmed combat would explain the whole thing. "You either learn or you spend half your days in the infirmary. They're not very big on the middle ground."
"You're not so bad yourself, though!" he says, sounding excited and happy. "I mean, you're not a dedicated fighter, but you're good at it just the same. Don't run into those a lot."

"I'm preparing for a long trip. I intend to get a year off before going to college to travel along the Empire with my bike and I need to be able to defend myself if I am to do that." She explains. "It's not easy for us courtiers. Jiujitsu needs time and dedication. I might have fallen a bit back in my other studies." Asurito smirks and blushes slightly.

"I don't think I'm more advanced than you by a lot, but if you don't mind, I'm always up for a new sparring partner," he volunteers. The boy is rather genuine about it, it looks like. "You could probably find better options, but hey. Guy's gotta try."

"I would be very honored to be your sparring mate, Daidoji san." The Miya responds with a broad smile to the super nice Crane. "Do you do any weight lifting by the way? I need to build some muscles in these tiny legs of mine. Perhaps we could continue there?"

"Sure, I'd love to."
He follows her lead. He seems to have no idea where the weight room is, perhaps out of lack of exploration. He wipes his brow of sweat.
When she mentions the leg training, he takes a look. He didn't think they were too bad. A kick to the head or a knee to the kidneys could hurt with those legs, he judged.
I guess they're kind of nice too, if I think about it.
"I know a few good kicks if you want to learn to use your legs as weapons," he offers. "But yeah, a bit more muscle on them might help. Never know when you might need to kick someone off you."

Asurito leads him to one of the side rooms. "That is very kind of you, Daidoji san. Any lessons are more than welcome." She responds and smiles.
The herald begins with some of the exercises that Akodo Ichiro had shown her the other day. "Some muscles will help me with cycling. I'm awful at sprints." She comments. "What do you do in your free time? Any hobbies?" She asks.

"Pottery," he answers as he checks some of the equipment and weights. "Odd, I know."
"How about you?"

"It's not odd. All Crane are artsy, no? Pottery can be artful apart from having practical application."
The girl shrugs a tiny bit. "Sports and jiujitsu. Mostly freestyle bmx tricks. Odd, I know."

He laughs. "Oddballs. Maybe we should be in the Dragon."
Then he spots the equipment for leg training. Whoever used it last seemed to have put on a lot of weight. He doubted he could lift it with his legs, and gave serious consideration to the idea the Miya couldn't either. "So, how heavy do you want these?"

"Five sets, twenty reps, 20 kilos. That's what Akodo Ichiro san advised me to do for now. Do you have a better idea?" The girl asks as she prepares the weights for herself. "I didn't ask you really. First year? I'm not sure that I have seen you around before."
