Noboru saw the sloppiness and brought his bokken up swiftly to deflect the strike, then used the rest of his momentum to knock it free from her hands. As the wooden weapon clattered to the ground a few feet away from the female Mirumoto her classmate brought his weapon around in a maneuver similar to what one would do to a first year to focus them or a sensei would do to an uppity student who thought they knew better: He lightly whapped her on the rear. With the strike made he bowed to Ryuha, offering, "When you've had time to rest and refocus, I'd like a rematch, cousin. I can see your skill and I don't believe I'd be as fortunate next time." (OOC: 41. Disarm made at Ryuha's player's suggestion.)

The Mirumoto girl frowns and clenches the fist of her sword hand, knuckles popping - not becasue of what Noboru did, but because his words rang true. In this duel, she was not herself. Rather than shame herself further, she simply bows to Noboru in reply.
"Today, you have proven yourself my better. We'll cross swords again soon, as you say." Then she departs the center, to clear the way for any future matches.

Akodo Seijuro changes his strategy which forces Isao to overcompensate. The Kakita grins as the Akodo rains down a series of heavy blows, one after another, forcing him to be fully on the defensive. Eventually Seijuro tags him with a strike which then forces him to reevaluate his strategy. Grinning all the while, Isao anticipates the Lion's next moves. OOC: Agility/Kenjutsu 28

As the two recenter, Seijuro begins to slowly pace to his right, searching for the moment to begin the offensive once more. He takes a breath and recognizes it, smiling himself now as he launches into another offensive assault. The last series off attacks between himself and Kakita Isao were closely matched - how would this one play out? (31 - orokos.com/roll/591185)

Perfectly tied! Where Seijuro attacked, Isao blocked. Where Isao attacked, Seijuro blocked. Their weapons clacked together in a crescendo of combat, trading blow for blow, with Isao grinning broadly all the while. OOC: Agility/Kenjutsu 31

Ryouko leaned back against the wall, content to watch for now. Her one match had strained her ribs more then she expected and she was secretly glad the teacher had not called her back tothe front for now.
It was also rather interesting to watch the matches. She observed the two Dragons with interest, but most of her attention was on the Lion and Crane match. The younger boy had talent, that was for certain. She smirked as the last two blows connected, almost exactly at the same time.

Their weapons clacked together in a crescendo of combat, trading blow for blow, with Isao grinning broadly all the while. OOC: Agility/Kenjutsu 31Seijuro allows himself a small grunt of approval; yes, the two were nearly equal. Isao's raw talent with the blade put him slightly above the Akodo. If the Lion wanted to win, he'd need to begin to apply the teachings of his grandfather in order to defeat the Crane. This young man had certainly earned his best. As their wooden blades part after the "karmic strike," Seijuro returns to center and adjusts his stance slightly. His blows replace sheer strength with the certainty of one who had taken Akodo's lessons to heart. (25 - orokos.com/roll/591255)

Sheer strength meet sheer speed. Where Seijuro was strong and powerful, Isao demonstrated speed and finesse with the blade. The young Kakita smiled as he found himself evenly matched with the Lion. Their swords clacked loudly throughout the dojo as Isao used position and necessary parries to dodge the blows until he found the opportunity to strike back, moving past the Lion as he tagged him with his sword. I held my own, Shoshuro-yokai, which is impressive enough for now. I did not shame myself by not landing a single blow nor by losing my temper like Mitsu-san when I was clearly beaten by a superior opponent. Sometimes, you have to settle for the little things, as those build a strong foundation for building larger things in the future. And besides, as a Scorpion, you should know the value of being underestimated sometimes.
